Y’all have always been amazing to me and have always made songs that genuinely make me feel heard, but lately I’ve been thinking about things y’all could do and I think I’ve got one that would be massive. What about a song about PTSD? Not your typical PTSD in soldiers or veterans, but what about one for the children. Those who’ve developed complex PTSD due to abuse or other painful experiences in their youth, ones that are so often told are fake, that they don’t have PTSD and it’s all in their head. It would be such a powerful thing to write a song for, to explain the silent horror in some children who can’t be heard.

@@phoenix-hb5hl even soldiers suffer from CPTSD. It's a pain in the end, because it gets misdiagnosed for normal PTSD. But if they do one on CPTSD, they can hit on BPD (borderline personality disorder) too.😊

Just said something like that, looks like I don’t need to say that anymore. Don’t ever try to be someone else, be you, ik it’s hard. But if I can at least recover from doing that (even if I’m still seriously hard on myself, I’m aware and am trying to improve on that), then anybody doing the same can too. Comparison can make you feel like you always need to change to fit in with others so that you aren't the odd one out. Don't do that, be yourself, be different, never compare yourself to anyone because the more your do the more you will feel like you need to change. The message to take away from this is that just be yourself don't let anyone else tell you what you can and can't do. (If only I let this happen)

This just became one of my favorite songs by Citizen Soldier!! I remember that people who wish they looked like their role models online sometimes develop eating disorders and body dysmorphia or just feel sad because they wanted the same body type as other people. Not to mention that TV shows targeted at children and teenagers also tend to promote body-shaming and extremely thin people. But at the end of the day, it's okay to not look like someone in the media, whatever that media may be. You should just love yourself the way you are made. And you shouldn't have to change it.

"How do I feel safe in my own skin when I've always been the ugly friend" pushed the tears to the surface! My comparison was always inside my own family, I'm the "curvy" sister, and I always felt ugly around them. I am not ugly, but I'm not thin. Even now, after I lost so much I now fit into a 38 ( before 42), I feel fat around them. Everyone compliments me or worries because of the fast loss, but I can't /see/ it. I still compare myself against the long legs of my little sis or the delicate ankles of my older one, the flat tummy of my mom, the overall thin look of them. I love them so much, but I always feel bad after meeting them and I don't like that! This song made me realize this and I need to think about it... read: listen to this song the whole day.

What i love about you guys is that you manage to talk/sing about almost everything, always speaking to a specific audience with each song. You don't just stick to one topic "because it works" but rather make sure, everyone feels welcome here. Well done ^^

This entire song gave me chills with its lyrics. Jake your words are like a poem that hits hard with it truths made stronger with its music. Thanks for another great song. ❤

"Every one of us will look the same, when they lower us into our graves, so I need somebody to explain, why we worship someone else's face. The perfect body won't be enough, on the day it's pushing daisies up, the only thing that they'll be thinking of, is what you did, and how you loved." I am in absolute love with these lines, this one really hit the thoughts I have at night right in the bullseye🫂

What makes that Song so beautiful is that it’s so real, like All the self hate and the comparison is such a big problem nowadays but nobody does something about it.

Another great song and one that hits close to home on my end for the fact I compare myself to so many things

I learned that there will always be someone smarter, prettier, luckier, richer than me, so to have a peaceful life I need to just be happy with myself and my life and do not compare it to others because everyone is different, and everyone is beautiful in their own way. You have a great song once again. Thanks, a mill.

Just discovered y'alls band on Sunday and I literally listened to all your songs that same day. I love how raw and relatable these songs are

I needed this song when I was younger. The amount of misery I had inside myself when I would compare myself to others is indescribable. When I realized that I was the only one hurting by these comparisons, I began working on letting it go. Accepting myself as enough. As more than enough. It took years but I don't care how I look anymore. Or what others think of me. I'm a beautiful young woman. If this is something you struggle with and you are reading this, I beg you to believe me. You don't need to be like anyone else. You are beautiful just as you are. With messy hair and no makeup wearing your most comfortable pajamas.

I’ve been looking forward for awhile for this song. For the people who have ever been told your not beautiful, you are the prettiest and handsome person out there 🥰 regardless of what you think you see in the mirror. What makes you you is what’s inside of you just waiting for you to show and express yourself.
