Pulling the crown out DOES NOT CONSERVE BATTERY POWER , in fact it leads to a quicker draw just as you experienced ( 1.5 years ) . The circuitry is not designed to have the “ power “ connected and the mechanism not running .... the circuitry is actually still “ asking” for the power ( input) but not dispersing the power ( output ). DONT PULL YOUR CROWN IN HOPES OF SAVING BATTERY POWER !

Thank you for the info. Is it true for all or just Citizen? I remember reading some user manuals which suggested this. I have the habit of pulling the crown out as I do not use regularly and some of my watch batteries have lasted really long.

Hi, I have a Citizens World time watch with a coin cell type battery and cannot figure out how to remove the battery, It has some sort of cover on it, not a jeweler so I am lost. Any thoughts?

If the watch back is similar with indents around the back, it means it is a screw back. You can use a scissors carefully to unscrew the back. If you do not see any indents around the back, it is probably a snap on back and you should be able to pry it open carefully. (Just my thougths, I'm not a jeweller too. :) ). You may also search with your watch model number to find some details online. If you can find a user guide online, it may contain battery replacement information.

Thanks for the reply, I had already gotten the back cover off, the battery itself has a metal piece holding it in place, thats what I couldnt remove, figured it out though, eventually!

Haha, good catch. I keep changing Nato/Zulus between watches and this watch was without band. I slipped the band into place for the video and noticed the upside down thing only after completing the video. Left it as is.

dont do this, i just tried it, and it scratched my watch very badly. A few more dollars for the repair shop is worth it.
