Hi Charles, add another person whose citrus trees were affected by leaf miners! I'm here in the Houston area. I applied Neem oil and IV organics to a couple of infected orange trees and a Lisbon Lemon tree. Leaf miner looks to be gone and trees look healthier. Lisbon Lemon was particularly hard hit, so it's recovering albeit a little slower. Thanks for putting these informative videos on KZbin. Interesting to see no matter where we are in country our citrus trees are affected by the same culprits! - Jonathan

Thank you for sharing Jonathan! It really surprised me to know that leaf miners can exist this late into the year-- I am usually looking forward to October to stop application of my organic pest control products against those leaf miners! I just had to share the fact that this was going on in my garden and glad to hear that we can add Houston, Texas to the list of states that had leaf miner damage in December! Fortunately, now being January, I think I can enjoy a break from the leaf minors until April/ May! :-) Thanks again for sharing!!! :-) Charles

Hello from Australia, Looks like you have solved my problem with my citrus trees. You have great informative videos, and your way of explaining each problem, how to fix it, and the pro's and cons of the products to use is superb ... your horticultural expertise really shines through. Thank you

what about pure neem oil (unprocessed) versus the extract?

Thank you for this video! My new Moro blood orange tree arrived with citrus leafminer and I happened upon your video just in time. I had never even heard of it before. After one treatment with a Neem-based product, it seems stabilized. I'll follow up with this Neem-based treatment once a week. Again, thanks...

instead of 22 minute of blabbering can we see the results from the usage of the three ingredients on three different trees as the title suggests?

I understand that garden or indoor plant pest is part of having a garden and indoor plant. Pest management is key for successful plants. Can you completely eliminate pest by proactively spraying organic pesticides.

I haven't seen one person on KZbin to full control the pest. Or follow up with good results.

This is my number one issue here. In addition to rotating these sprays I also use blue sticky bug paper which attracts leaf minors.

Hello David Stack, Citrus Leaf Miners are the ONLY pest problem on my citrus trees. I will try the sticky paper in the Spring.... Thank you for the suggestion! :) Charles

I was waiting to hear about the cons of using neem oil and spinosad. My lemon tree has tons of flowers therefore, tons of bees, wasps, butterflies, ladybugs, etc also. I don’t want to hurt any of the pollinators. N. Ca zone 10a

So which is better? Spraying the IV separately from the neem oil or combined?
@IVOrganic6 жыл бұрын
Hello Riptide 10x, Me (and other experience growers we work with) would spay the neem oil in the late afternoon (after the bees have returned to their hives); allowing the neem oil to coat and smoother all surfaces through the night and early morning. Then, by later morning (before the risk of sunburn... which gets magnified by the oily neem surface) create the IV Organic foliar spray (or purchase the Ready To Use spray) to coat & cool all the surfaces from the afternoon sun. I hope this makes sense. Let me know know if you have any other questions. Charles :-)

Hi Charles, how many applications of neem oil are needed in citrus before IV organics is applied?

My citrus (gold nugget orange) tree is currently blooming with flowers in april, and I can see some tiny fruits too setting there. Is it safe to spay this solution on the flowers and the fruits?

Hi! Did any effect during flowering time to spray neem oil?
@sherimcnamara60214 жыл бұрын
Hi Charles, I see how you sprayed neem oil and the following morning with IV Organics (powder only or mixed with oil vial, amount please). I’m using captain Jacks Deadbug (for leaf miners) instead of neem oil, do I also spray the next morning with IV Organics? Or will this kill the bacteria in Captain Jacks? Maybe captain jacks won’t burn like the oils? I also have the All Season spray which I will use IV Organics next day. I already purchased your product to paint my lemon tree. I plan on only mixing 1/2 and saving the rest for another time. Please let me know if I just add powder to water to spray the next day or also include some oil from the vial with the powder. And if I should/shouldn’t use the day after with Captain Jacks. I’m in Southern California so all your videos are helping me with my lemon tree. Thank you for all your help!

Great video! Thank you for sharing valuable information. I live in Texas and all of my citrus is heavily infested with leaf miners. May I ask, is Captain Jack’s bacteria bad for honey bees? I had been told that it will kill bees so you should not use it when the citrus is flowering and attracting pollinators. Please let me know. Thank you very much.

Hi Charles, just discovered 7 citrus trees & 3 calamondin in pots full of leaf miner. Got Captain jack spray per recom by nursery staff. Haven’t use it yet. Am so sad cuz all fruits looks horrible. I removed most leaves leaving a leafless branches. Came across your channel. I have leftover IV organics (3 months old) , can I still use it? Is it ok with Captain Jack to use? Thank you.

Hi Charles! Had a major problem with leaf miners this year on my peppers and tomatoes. I’m overwintering a couple peppers which I have cut all the way back and defoliate. My question is will the leaf miners come back as the plant starts producing leaves and fruit this coming spring? Thank you so much!
@arnoldmerriam2 жыл бұрын
Spinosad is a chemical made by bacteria, but is not a living bacteria itself, contrary to what you stated in this video. Therefore I don't understand why there might be a problem using it close in time to a Neem oil application. I see no basis for any adverse interaction. Please comment.

I wish I could use something that wouldn't kill my monarch catepillars. These pesky leaf miners are on my lemon tree, near my milkweed, and eating milkweed too. But I grow the milkweed for my monarch catepillars so everything is manual leaf removal. Never seen this mess in California until this year. Disgusting.
