Dallas has literally played a song to every aspect of my life thus far. I have loved this song but stumbled upon this version the night before I lay my 20 year old brother to rest forever. I can't sleep. Yet, this settles my soul alittle. Rest in eternal peace to my baby brother Keonni. Please know just how loved you were.

Now, that's what you call talent; playing the harmonica and guitar at the same time!

These WFUV videos are great! These are wonderful performances by Dallas. As they all are, but I feel like these sessions are different for some reason. Guess they seem more intimate ;)

Replying to a four month old comment here, but for City and Colour, try "The Death of Me" and the second section of "The Girl". He was also the lead singer for Alexisonfire, a post hardcore band, so pretty much all of those songs are lively.

Listening to Alexisonfire. Thanks for the suggestion

incorrect, he plays in a variety of styles as well as tempo and time signature changes. listen from early stuff through to now. theres a lot of development and also he changes songs etc when he plays live. style is never the same twice it seems

He is neither bob or neil, he is Dallas Green our generations Dallas Green. Ive never herd music like his, and it is every bit as good if not better than any bob or Neil song.

Anyone know how his style of strumming is called? I can't make out if he's using a pick or just strumming with his thumb and index.
@dickyjeebers54038 жыл бұрын
I'm not a great guitarplayer or anything, but to me it seems like he's using thumb index and the ocasional nail... Seems to soft to be using a pick:s

Anyone know the key of his Harmonica? I've read everywhere that its 'A' but recently he's been playing the harmoinca part differently to the album version. It might be stupid of me to ask but is it a different key or simply played differently?

@Falcata10 жыл бұрын
its definitely an A harmonica! i play this song in standard tuning, no capo, with a G key harmonica (only because that's all i have available). since each fret on the guitar represents a semitone, going from G > A key harmonica would require you to move two frets up (capo 2).. there's also another live video where you can actually see the A marked on his harp as well... hope that helps
@kieranr903710 жыл бұрын
PhanTheMan I've since figured it out but thanks for the help anyway dude!

No, Dallas Green's songs aren't nearly as topical or smart lyrically, but as much as I love Bob Dylan, I'd say Dallas Green is easier to listen to, pleasing chords and melodies sung by a beautiful voice, which Bob Dylan admittedly lacks

He really doesn't sound anything like Bob Dylan, nor does he sound like Neil Young. I can see the comparison as to talent, but musically...

well as far as City & Colour is concerned, I'd say the lyrics are pleasing by the number type love/sappy songs, not to say they aren't moving are meaningful of course, just no Dylan comparison

Id say Neil Young cause Bob Dylan, although a great guitarist/songwriter, wasn't the BEST singer. But that's besides the fact when it comes to Bobby. But we all know Dallas has a voice of unicorns puking rainbows

No, Bob Dylan was a terrible singer. Dallas Green is a fantastic singer.
