I must admit I met the band members of Alexis on fire out of show at the Underground in Hamilton Ontario and spoke to Dallas Green for a while commenting that I didn't really like the genre and that I was only there because a friend gave me a free ticket. I would say they put on an excellent show and the energy was pretty awesome. I ended up buying a skateboard and having the band sign it and giving it to my friend for inviting me to the show . Apparently that was a good idea because I looked behind me and everybody else was lining up to buy skateboards and having them signed.. Dallas told me that in the future he was going to be releasing some other projects that I might be interested in as we spoke about some of the artist I was into. He actually was into some of the same music which I found interesting. I found him to be a pleasant guy pretty down to earth and thoughtful. City and Colour is now one of my favorite bands and I am glad I hit that show with my neighbor Dave. lol Thanks for being yourself guys. Mad love. Mike

Great story! I only wish I was in the States pre-covid where I could have seen Dallas live. I found out about his project: City and Colour from a buddy from Wisconsin I met in Finland during one of our "American Time" sessions. This band has been one of my favorites since. My favorite song is Two Coins.

This song brought me to tears the first time I had heard it. I'm a guy, and I will never be ashamed to admit that Dallas Green made me cry tears of joy and sorrow. It reminds so much of my life. My mother passed away a couple years ago. It was a heart wrenching experience and throughout my life people constantly said, "You are just your like mother." Thank you, Dallas Green.

Dude, if Dallas Green can't make you cry, you don't have a soul.

Wow you cry like everyone else. Congratulations. Masculinity is so toxic that we're supposed to be in awe of one dude having a normal healthy human reaction to their normal emotions. Get over yourself and learn to cry more.

My parents would play city and colour to help me sleep when I was really little like 2-4 years old. I specifically remember hearing this song, coming home, and sleeping sickness. Now, when I listen to these songs, it just brings me back to when I was young and didn’t have to worry about growing up and my future.

I fear I'll die from complications Complications due to things that I've left undone That all my debts will be left unpaid Feel like a cripple without a cane I'm like a jack of all trades who’s a master of none Then there's my father he's always looking on the bright side Saying things like “Son life just ain’t that hard” He is the grand optimist, I am the world’s poor pessimist You give him burdensome times and he will escape unscarred I guess I take after my mother I guess I take after my mother But I used to be quite resilient, gained no strength from counting the beads on a rosary And now the wound has begun to turn Another lesson that has gone unlearned But this is not a cry for pity or for sympathy I guess I take after my mother I guess I take after my mother I guess I take after my mother I guess I take after my mother

This song makes me teary eyed because my mother died in 1989 or 1990 of murder. She's one of the missing and murdered aboriginal women on the original list of Sisters In Spirit. Rest in Peace my mother Bernadette Linda Ahenakew

Dallas Green speaks to my soul. I was a Matthew Good acolyte in my twenties and kinda still am. I fucking loved the Traigeically Hip too. With the loss Gord; I kinda think that there was a torch passed and I can’t think of a more talented or deserving person. Edit: Some people are lost, and Triaged for health reasons. Tragically is the proper word, but I think I’ll just leave it that way. Music heals.
