Dallas has amazed me with this album. I don't know how people get through life without him, his lyrics, his voice, his soul - they all do so much for me. I just saw him live at Bush Hall, London and it was the best gig of my life. I love you Dallas, I hope you make music for the rest of your beautiful days x

This is Dallas Green in his element - his voice and lyrics along with his identifiable acoustic playing without a plectrum are just him. I don't think he'll ever move away from it.

The guitar he's using is called a slotted headstock guitar. Their purpose is that the headstock looks like a classic guitar's headstock and that it's bent so you can get a different tone out of it. Mainly useful for finger-picking.

I've been critical of this new album, my comments have even been deleted for saying it was going to be a letdown for me. This proves my point. This is City and Colour! Simply amazing! He doesn't need the band, country sound, its all too much of a distraction. I've been a long time fan, I just feel I will have to settle for these acoustic sets to get my fix as I am going to be passing on the new recorded sound. I love this sound! I hope three next album goes back to this.

It's a big market and he nails the sounds so well. On top of that there's more recognition and new listeners eventually listen to his classic albums which is another win. He gets paid and so does the brilliant group of musicians that harmonize with him. At the end of the day it's always a business

hey man i totally respect your opinion and in fact, i too thought that way for a moment in time. But then i remembered something as a huge Dallas fan like you, he is a story teller. Its his job, he makes songs for us to intake this environment and mood emitted from it, and the full band is just another way of expressing those moods and feelings of the song so we can take more from personally. I think if yo take that into account on your next listen, it will be far more enjoyable for you. Cheers.

I would say to anyone who is a bit skeptical or critical about the prospect of City and Colour going for more depth in their sound, to go and see them live - then you will see why. Saw them on the Little Hell tour with the introduction of songs like Fragile Bird and Weightless, and they were equally, if not more, breathtaking than the acoustic songs he performed solo. I will always love the early albums, but cannot wait for Hurry and the Harm and to see it live.

Dallas wanted a fuller sound and I think he did a great job on the new album. Think he got it exactly how he wanted it. That being said the great thing about Dallas is he almost always has an acoustic version of his songs somewhere. It's like getting the best of both worlds.

It seems ridiculous to me that so many people are saying things like "I'm going to pass on listening to this new album, because it's not just him and an acoustic anymore"; the album hasn't even been f**king released yet! Personally I think the new stuff is the best music he's ever made (from what I've heard). His vocals are on top form, and after all the acoustic stuff it's nice to hear something a little more ballsy. He does a better job at the electro/rock sound than most. It's still Dallas.

In Greek mythology, Hades (their version of the underworld), had 5 rivers; one of them being the Styx. Dead souls had to cross it once they left the realm of the living and the only way was on the boat of Charon. The ancient Greeks would put coins on the eyes of their dead so they could pay the boatman to ensure safe passage across the river, and that they would not be left behind (via WikiAnswers)

AoF was child’s music, hindering the development of this man, now he has become a great talent who can share his song writing ability. No longer held back. You could see it in his face during the later years of AoF. These beautiful choruses from Dallas, then that horrible screaming would come in, instantly cheapening his words.
