City of Houston selling popular trail as TxDOT moves forward with I-45 expansion project

The city sold 3 acres of land that encompasses the White Oak Bayou Greenway next to UH-Downtown -- west of North Main Street and south of Hogan Street.

You cannot get a lot in The Heights for under $500,000, but TxDOT gets all that land for $260,000. Didn't the mayor just say the city was broke? Why not get a little more for the land mayor?

How about we build up the transportation of Houston and actually build some sidewalks for people to walk around Houston more biking and walking paths to different parts of the city cars are not the solution and traffic will still be hell on 45

For only $260k? City of Houston just got ripped off, never mind the fact that people's hike and bike trail is going to be gone, that sounds dirt cheap for land. Austin just bought up an old ranch to turn into a park for $90 million for $60k an acre. TXDOT needs to have it's power taken away, it's destroying cities for lanes that won't change anything in travel times. Katy Freeway's expansion causing an increase in travel times from before it's hellish expansion for example.
