Excellent video guys! You really illustrated the difference between FWD vs RWD in a track setting. It boils down to a bit of power vs handling. I’ve driven both, and one clear difference is an ease of driving. At 8/10th the CTR is super easy to drive. The balance is incredible. The s2k requires a lot of practice and skill to drive at the limit.

Not really. Check out some of the Japanese races where an Integra Type R and S2000 are very close. That CTR could have been engineered to truly compete on corners, but it wasn't. What you're seeing here is a difference in design approach, and function of the cars.

As an owner of both an AP1 S2000 in Grand Prix White with red interior, and an FK8 Civic Type R in Championship white, I can say BOTH cars are AMAZING. I've done a few video comparisons already, but to sum them up - S2000 is more exciting, best of old school Honda, and the FK8 Type R is the most dynamically competent as well as practical. The new turbo 4 in the Type R is a true gem, just like the old F20C was, but with much more power.

@@juanc5149 Call jun and ask them probably one of the only shops to build an insanely fast prelude. ATTS is garbage throw it in the trash. Seeing as most track cars dont have interior prob not however go autox it stock and learn to drive before upgrading then build as you learn.
@juanc5149
@juanc5149 6 жыл бұрын
I’be driven plenty of cars, and have autox and track experience. I completely disagree with atts being garbage. It does it’s intended purpose, and really keeps the handling neutral on a fwd car. I come from decades of driving rwd cars. The Prelude SH makes me driving a fwd bearable.

Thanks guys, nice video. With 100+ more WHP on the CTR, it's no surprise it's faster in a straight line. For the S2000, it shows just how good a nearly 20 year old car is against the latest from Honda. I prefer the RWD S2000 feel, over the test drives I've done on the CTR. Both good cars though, each with their own strengths. Nice to see the same tires on both cars so you can basically eliminate one car having an advantage due to tires.

The reason why it was so close in a straight line is that you were starting the Civic in first gear. If you put it in second gear, from a roll it would not spin as much and would pull away from the S2k right away. Surprising how much quicker the S2k is in the corners though. The CTR is supposed to be no slouch there either.

I dont know about these tires tho....but hey sponsored. Id go for an ad08r instead. Still capable in the Rain but better in the dry and good for occasional trackdays. Also i would have expected the Civic to be quicker. But i guess thats also a question of suspension setup and tires. Ive heard the Civic has a very good diff to pull it out of corners. Maybe earlier on the throttle against the feeling. Like an evo with ayc. When you feel the evo understeer, give it gas and it pulls itself out of the corner. But i dont know. Havent driven either an evo or the new Type R.
