Excellent video guys! You really illustrated the difference between FWD vs RWD in a track setting. It boils down to a bit of power vs handling. I’ve driven both, and one clear difference is an ease of driving. At 8/10th the CTR is super easy to drive. The balance is incredible. The s2k requires a lot of practice and skill to drive at the limit.

As an owner of both an AP1 S2000 in Grand Prix White with red interior, and an FK8 Civic Type R in Championship white, I can say BOTH cars are AMAZING. I've done a few video comparisons already, but to sum them up - S2000 is more exciting, best of old school Honda, and the FK8 Type R is the most dynamically competent as well as practical. The new turbo 4 in the Type R is a true gem, just like the old F20C was, but with much more power.

Thanks guys, nice video. With 100+ more WHP on the CTR, it's no surprise it's faster in a straight line. Both good cars though, each with their own strengths. Nice to see the same tires on both cars so you can basically eliminate one car having an advantage due to tires.

The reason why it was so close in a straight line is that you were starting the Civic in first gear. If you put it in second gear, from a roll it would not spin as much and would pull away from the S2k right away. Surprising how much quicker the S2k is in the corners though. The CTR is supposed to be no slouch there either.

Also i would have expected the Civic to be quicker. But i guess thats also a question of suspension setup and tires. Ive heard the Civic has a very good diff to pull it out of corners. Maybe earlier on the throttle against the feeling. Like an evo with ayc. When you feel the evo understeer, give it gas and it pulls itself out of the corner. But i dont know. Havent driven either an evo or the new Type R.
