Nebuchadnezzar II (c. 634 - 562 BC) was king of Babylon for some 43 years (605-562 BC). He is best known for his military conquests and his restoration of the city of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar II also figures prominently in the Bible for the conquest of Judah and the forced relocation of many Israelites to Babylon.

I always liked how other leaders are all trying to put on some can of presentation and give off a specific aura, and here Nebuchadnezzar II just seems completely sick of this shit.

When he said "Are you real, or a phantom" was he referencing the to The Bible of when he has dreams and visions in the book of Daniel? If so that's a very neat Easter egg that the game creators put in there :D

@Mr. Nihilist no, the Nebuchadnezzar mentioned in the Book of Daniel was Nebuchadnezzar II of the neo-Babylonian Empire, as the Jewish exile started in the late 7th century BC and most of the Book of Daniel occurred in the 6th century BC.

@@philregaz599 he is not brutal as assyrian before, even jews writers admit that they betray babylon many times and become ally with egypt, so nebuchanezzar came this time to end their kingdom. Nebuchadnezzar was so popular, nabunaid and his son belshazer who hate not nebuchadnezzar, and cyrus didnt came without battle as you claim, becuase he kill the mass babylonian army in upis and separ then he change direction of euphrates river from babylon and when babylon become without army and without water they open the gates for saving their lifes not just because their hate to Nebunaid

The battle had been raging for years. At first, the Babylonians were filled with hope and pride. Nebuchadnezzar sat powerfully on his throne, ready to lead his armies to victory. The first part of the war was mixed. There were some wins and some losses, but overall, it was looking up for Babylon. After all, their mighty empire had taken countless others. After a few more years, they started to lose more and more battles to you. The people started to worry, but Nebuchadnezzar wouldn't surrender. He wouldn't accept defeat. His people still held on to their glimmer of hope, trusting that he knew what he was doing. Despite his powerful disposition, he was starting to think he couldn't win. He'd spend nights without sleep to plan his battles. He did everything he could to defeat you, but the sleepless nights were becoming more and more common. Years went by. What once was once a mighty city laid ashes and ruins. You rode through his town. You looked at what you did with remorse, but you knew you had to. His people swarmed around his palace. They wanted to be let in, to know what to do. They wanted answers. Nebuchadnezzar's guards kept the doors closed while he sat at his throne. What was once a mighty emperor was reduced to a husk of an overconfident leader. He just sat there, resting his arm on his throne and his forehead on his hand. You rode up on your horse. You entered his palace, looking powerful and victorious. But once you saw him, you couldn't help but feel remorse. He sat there, no more dignity, no more power. It was all over. He fought to keep his dynasty from falling in ashes, but it was too late now. He glanced up at you. He knew he was going to die then and there. What could he do about it? If he ran, he'd lose all dignity he had left. You walked up with your blade at hand and approached him. He looked out the door at the crowd. He heard them. They were in a panic. Nebuchadnezzar was already exhausted. He'd tried everything there was to do, but no amount of plans or soldiers could save him now. In his few remaining days, he'd simply given up. He lost the will to continue planning. The daily cries of the people pressuring him to go on were too much. He wiped a cold sweat from his forehead, looking at you wish defeated, tired eyes. He was ready to die. With the last of his energy, right before his death, he spoke the words that almost made you regret the war, if only for the reason of what you did to him. He looked at you, defeated and tired, just ready to give up and eager to finally stop that war. "It is over. Perhaps now I shall have peace, at last."

Actually, the subtitles -do- say what they say, some of the time. You see, while the leaders only have one vocal for each message, the text varies. But at least one of the text variations is usually exactly what they're always saying.

Actuallu, nobody here say what subtitles say, they always say something else..just look at Caesar, i studied latin for 6 years in high school so i'm pretti sure that, when you declare war, the subtitles say, " You've made a terrible mistake, you will regret this"... but instead, , he calls you " brave but brainless idiot " .... ( the full speech is " So brave yet so stupid, if only you had brain that could match your courage ")..... so, subtitles never correspond to reality.
