Ruin: The Horse of War. Horseman of Apocalypse Reunites with His Steed (Darksiders 1)

War reunites with his horse - Ruin. Ruin is War's mighty steed. After War's imprisonment, Ruin was captured by Demons in the Ashlands, where he pressed into servitude by the lead Demon. War frees Ruin after defeating its captor and mounts it after regaining its trust. Ruin resembles a large fire and smoke shrouded Clydesdale or Ardennes horse, and other such heavily built horses.
War can ride Ruin through the open-world of Darksiders, but is not available at the beginning of the game. Once reunited with War, the horseman can summon his phantom steed whenever he pleases, with Ruin bursting out of the ground. Ruin can be summoned and dismissed quickly, which can assist its master with combos. War is reunited with Ruin in the Ashlands, where previously he had to use the Chronomancer ability to evade Ashworms, War can now outrun and even defeat them, including The Stygian. Ruin is even capable of phasing through objects, such as the ground for easy summoning or large monsters, allowing War to finish them off.
Ruin also adds a heavy boost to War's melee attack, killing enemies much quicker than on foot. Ruin also gives War a higher jump. When War dismounts off Ruin, he leaps off the saddle and Ruin returns to the Earth. This can be compounded with War's double jump and Shadowflight, allowing him to reach higher platforms and cross greater distances. Ruin is also able to catch War when he begins to fall. This is done by summoning him midair.

Gotta love the dynamic they show between Ruin and War. Ruin isn't just some pet, he's his own being and character. He's War's brother basically, but feels distrust after being abandoned. So rather than immediately rejoining, it's like War has to prove his worth again to be worthy of the Red Horse. I love that dynamic. Feels a lot like Fang and Spear from Primal- where the animal isn't a tamed pet, but more a partner or sibling.

it's hard to believe that war is the youngest, the guys a huge mf, but the guy isn't the most powerful, according to the story and background death is the oldest and most powerful but his also the most reasonable out of all whereas fury is the short tempered one, all I know about strife is that he does what's needed to be done and to put it in simple terms, the guy won't hesitate in killing someone that pisses him off, also death was the first to tame a horse because war, fury and strife were worried and we're doubting themselves whereas death just got pissed and hopped into the rampaging horses and managed to tame a horse which transformed to represent the form of its master and after that death name it despair because that was the one thing that was in his mind at the time.

@@integraxnine745 it's been over two years so it's difficult to remember, but i believe it always froze after giving Samael the last piece of his heart. i'd be able to play the game with no problems up to this point, but *everytime* i finally get to enter that portal to The Tower it would freeze after 3-4 seconds in it. i restarted my save file over at least three or four times and ran into the same problem. i played this on Xbox 360, and tried everything that was recommended online, but to no avail. i ended up selling it due to this problem
