Missing one cutscene, actually. You can go to him without all the sword pieces and you'll get a unique cutscene in which War tells him Abaddon is the Destroyer.

It's just the fact that in these scene Ulthane said he does not fear Death and that for us Death is not a person but in this game and story Death is a (person kind off) and War was bad ass and said that is not death he should fear

In the Darksiders 2, the makers (Carn, at least) said that Ulthane was the last person to use the portal of the Tree of Life to escape from their realm. He ended up on earth, where we just saw him.

He killed the strongest Nephilim solo, who was powered up by corruption, fought an "uncaged" Samael at full power without even so much as a shrug, and killed probably tougher opponents mid game than Abbadon tbh. Argul WAS the King of the dead, after all.
