2015-2017 Mustang GT Borla S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust Installation

After watching many videos of sound clips I can see why Bill prefers this on his project car! I was worried the S-type wasn't gonna be loud enough and the ATAK sounded too rice-y when doing pulls. The S-type is LOUD and has an awesome tone. Its in your face when you step on it, and disappears with a deep rumble when you're off it. This install video was clutch for my installation. Big thanks to CJ pony parts!

Bill I just want to thank you for being the first to post a video and install of this exhaust. The s - type is my favorite exhaust setup. I'm hoping to go with this setup on my 2015 this spring if all goes well . Hope the neighbours won't mind that beastly noise ; p

Hey Bill, I know you absolutely love the S-Type on your GT, I previously had the same on my 2013 V6 and loved them. They sound great on the new 5.0 as well but I am absolutely torn between this system and the Magnaflow Competition Catback for my new GT. Having heard them in person, what would you say are the biggest differences between the two? Or if possible, a comparison video between the two would be great. Thanks in advance!

matthewlau254 it's same muffler. just says borla on it instead of ford racing by borla. even borla confirmed s type and sport are same even on the older models. only one that is different is the atak

Khyber GT They are no longer the same. When Ford used to get the mufflers from Borla for their sport system they used the S Type. When Ford agreed to co-brand with Borla unique mufflers were made for each system. Borla shows cutaways at SEMA of the different mufflers. The sound is similar but they do sound different.

Did your S-Type get a lot more quiet after breaking it in? I put the same exhaust on my car, 2 weeks and about 500 miles later I feel like mine lost the throaty V8 rumble/loudness it had after the initial install.

What was the use of the 8 mm hex and why did the left muffler swivel down like that? Isn't it one piece. I've ordered the s type from you and will be installing it in two days and would like to avoid surprises. Thanks

Alex Staton The tool list was from the previous install that had bolt on tips, the 8mm is not used for the S type. The muffler was clamped on so we could show you a stock system removal, it has been cut off previously for an axle back install.

Bill, Is this S-type available with an H-pipe instead?, or can I buy this system in parts, meaning, everything but the x-pipe and I can buy the H-pipe separately? If I'm correct, the H-pipe will slightly reduce the raspyness(Hence a more old school muscle car tone), and provide low end torque instead? Your advice would be great.

+Rajendra Prasad This is only offered with an X pipe as a cat back. If you wanted an H pipe you could get our resonator delete H pipe and the Borla S type axle back.

The Ford Racing Sport and the S type are not the same system. Borla had cutaways of them and they are unique
