One sure fire way to get more horsepower is by adding a cold air kit. Airaid went all out to develop the best Cold Air Intake system for the 2015, 2016 or 2017 GT Mustang. The new intake features a specially designed one-piece rotomolded intake box that draws cool outside air from the factory air duct location while having a unique shape that will promote airflow around the entire surface of the SynthaMax filter. The new air box design also utilizes a lid with a Plexiglass window that will add to your underhood styling while keeping the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air and will allow you to keep tabs on filter condition.

to remove mass air flow connector pull the red tab out towards the front of the car and it will come a little to release it. also make sure you loosen all the hose clamps before you try to put it on, i wrestled with it and then noticed the clamps went on easy but weren't loosened enough to get it put together.

Used the video to guild the install yesterday. There was one small piece of the install missing. You didn't show how to remove the mass air flow connector. I finally figured it out, but it added at least 10 minutes to the install!

What people are not understanding about the Airraid CAI is that yes it does have a box type design but it does the exact same thing as a CAI that does not have a box design...Most aftermarket CAI systems have a rubber gasket that goes along the edge of the CAI box that the filter sits in...once the hood of the car is shut the gasket seals the filter off from the rest of the engine...this prevents the intake from taking in the hot engine heat...this is great however over time the rubber gasket will eventually start to warp and lose its tight flush seal thus allowing the intake to bring in that hot engine heat....the airaid CAI box deletes the cheap rubber gasket and seals it with a glass shield...same concept but a far better design....the air flow is still brought in from the same place as the other intake systems but prevents majority of the hot air from the engine....also the airaid system can be ran without a tune however you have to use the provide tube insert that airaid includes with the kit....this insert is placed inside the tube to make the diameter the same size as the stock tubing which because of this will not create a CEL...the insert can be removed if you get your car retuned to allow more air....

Most people delete it but you don't have to. The tube is designed to bring some of the stock air intake sound to the interior, once you have an aftermarket one it really isn't necessary. on the 2015 the sound tube is bolted to the firewall and is kind of a pain to get to.

Just resonates intake sounds to the cabin of the car. Not needed at all unless you like intake sound in your car.

Hey bill. The connections to the two rubber grommets are a little lose. The two closest to the throttle body on top. Did I do something wrong or are they suppose to be a little lose. Thanks for the video

Luis Valdez while preparing this intake for installation, i too noticed that one of the grommets is a little loose. Did this cause any issues with yours?

Jafet Pretel I'm not sure if it caused any problems. But I didn't like it being that loose. I'm pretty sure it cause small leaks in the intake. So I sold it and installed the gt350 intake.

The air raid Intake was very quiet. A lot more engine noise with the gt350 cold air intake. Sounds really good in my opinion. Hope this helps

No it’s just safe practice anytime you’re disconnecting and reconnecting anything electrical ie the MAF Sensor. I personally wouldn’t for this install

Kevin Tullock It depends, it would be smart to get a tune for the new level of air going through the engine.

+SansooIan Exactly! Every car is different...even stock cars have varying power to the wheels. I'm looking for the best way to tune mine as well but a tune is 100% necessary and the gains are certainly worth it...getting the air/fuel mix right makes a world of difference. Wish CJ Pony garage was within driving distance lol would be a loyal customer

I replaced my stock air filter with a K&N. With stock exhaust and no tune I immediately noticed a sound change. Sounds a little deeper. I haven't dunked it but I'm thinking once I install my catback and the the car the CAI wouldn't make much of a difference compared to the filter switch.

+iTzMeChucky Lol if you really think a CAI wont make A serious different from a freaking filter change in stock airbox you need to do some research.I think airaid gives ur car somewhere around 25 percent more air whereas a JLT is more aggressive and you see even bigger gains with a tune. Stock airbox is best described as restrictive same for the exhaust ont he new mustangs.

Lovell1988 We have not done any TBS installs on the 2015 so I can't say for sure if it would fit but I believe there is enough room

dmxmike2 The JLT will require a tune but the combination of the tune and intake will make a little more power than the Airaid. If you don't want to flash your car the Airaid is the way to go.

+Bill Tumas Getting a CAI and cat-back exhaust is a great way of getting the 5.0 breathing better but you're right about the tune. What is the best way to get your 2016-2016 GT flashed/tuned with these mods? Bama offers do it yourself tunes as do a few others. If you didn't have access to a shop, what route would you take for your car?
