Are you really comparing a 4090 with a ps5 pro? It doesnt even come close to a 4090's performance, plus you are comparing a budget product, essentially, to a high end product. Also AMD does better price to performance, so compare a comparable AMD part. I would say I can build a pc that can match its performance for about 100-150 more, which basically has all the advantages a pc has, including upgradability!

Digital Foundry has very publicly stated several times that Alan Wake 2 and the new Star Wars game both stand out as the worst PS5 Pro games that they have tested, and that they badly need new patches to fix these games. So the fact that you use Alan Wake for your example to show what the PS5 Pro is capable of tells me everything I need to know about this video. And I'm a PC gamer myself. You clearly watched digital foundry's video on the PS5 Pro. You know what you were doing when you hand picked that game as your example.

If you played FF7 Rebirth on PS5 Pro and PS5 standard, you know the worth of PSSR. You get double the frame rates, from 30 fps to 60 fps!

PS5 wasn't using FSR3 or 2 in Rebirth, it was using a weaker upscaler than that, it was always going to look better, they can improve even the PS5 version by a lot just by using FSR2 but didn't. The FPS is improved by better GPU, not PSSR.

But yeah, I use the BENQ MOBIUZ 48” 4K OLED, 120hz VRR, HDMI 2.1, and I get the advertised 120hz with most games, and 4K60, even Elden Ring runs at a clean 60fps in fidelity mode. It’s a night and day difference from my OG PS5, in all honesty, I hated dealing with 30FPS, now I don’t have to worry about it.

Wait so you’re basing this all on Alan Wake 2? Play the Callisto Protocol now that the Enhanced patch dropped. It’s pretty amazing, 4K, 6K and 8K options. My only opposition to PC dudes in this conversation of PS5 or PS5 pro is that PC dudes wanna claim better hardware but are also trying to claim lower or similar price. Lets be honest here....4080/4090 level hardware is gonna have the best performance and visuals for gaming but those are GPU's that cost 2 times the price of a PS5 pro. As someone who owns all console generations but is primarily a PC gamer, I always buy any game on Steam that I can and then play only the exclusives on console. Native 4K 120FPS vs some 800p upscaling at 30FPS on console is trash. Save your money, build your first PC even if it takes you a year to do it. Then you will never look back.

Then you forget that the PC does a lot more than a simple game console. I sold my PS5 and got a PC, yes the difference is huge at every level. The games are much cheaper and no subscription to play online. PlayStation is just marketing today. They sell you the PS5 Pro without a disc drive to force you to pay €80 for the games on the PS Store, not to mention the €30 support... Take a PS5 Standard if u just want to play games but if you start worrying about FPS and graphics it's better to make the jump to PC

DF's original comparison to the 4070 was not due to power, but rather features. They've made it clear that the original PS5 was equivalent to the RX 6700, but the pro does not have a PC GPU equivalent as there is no GPU with the power of the PS5 Pro with a machine learning upscaler (PSSR / DLSS). As such, an underclocked 4070 is its equivalent. Alan Wake II has been a demanding game on both PC and console. On PC it's almost required to use DLSS, therefore you will inherently be playing at a lower resolution on both platforms, albeit not as low as the PS5 (depending on the PC GPU). Therefore, I dont think using that as your example is fair whatsoever. For me, I am not a console gamer, I play on PC (3080 Ti, Ryzen 9 7900X, 32 GB DDR5), but I do play on console for exclusives. I've found the image quality increase, but more importantly, the uncapped frame rates in the games I've tried to be much better on the pro. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont believe PS5 pro has ever been marketed as a system to play games in 4K 120. The marketing message has been providing 4k image quality at 60 fps for games that offer a performance mode, but it is up to 3rd party developers to decide how the power/PSSR is used. And to be clear, I know what I purchased. Is the PS5 Pro necessary? Not at all. It is for the select few that appreciate the improvements and videos by DF prior to release have made that abundantly clear.

I keep the PS5 connected to the TV for couch H2H and so the wife can play Astro or something. The PS5 Pro is absolutely amazing when you're talking about PC you can't just judge It Off comparing graphics. APC is way more expensive than the Pearl and you may consistently have to upgrade and buy parts for optimal experience. Also you do not get day one PlayStation exclusives. You either have to wait a year or longer if ever at all. It's just more convenient to get a PS5 because you get all the games including Xbox ports coming, great performance and resolution, and the comfort of sitting on your couch and playing. With the pro you just have to buy one thing with a PC you have to most likely have a good keyboard, Mouse, headphones, graphics card ect

Just to put things into perspective PS5 pro day one of owning is $950. Ps5 $760 with tax,Game $70 flat and 1 year of basic subscription $120. Year 2 is $1,070. Year 3 is $1,290. And so on…. I think a $2000 pc is such a solid machine for what you can do with it,it’s not just a gaming device.You can have literal careers out machines like that.

Unless you want to wait 2-3 years (or never) to play PlayStation exclusives, then the PS5 pro is your best option. Ps5 pro is a huge upgrade in look and feel over a base ps5. I have one and i am sure im not the only one that feels that way. Of course if does not make every game like that, it aint magic. But for game like horizon and stellar blade, if future games will be developed like that on the pro. $700 is a steal. And you cannot get that smooth gameplay/look on the base ps5 or slim. It does indeed make a huge difference in such games.

It's the best you can get for playing GT7 if you're serious about that game, and it will be the best you can get for playing GTA6 until the PC port. Pro is cool, I bought one just to future proof myself on upcoming timed exclusives like Ghost 2, Wolverine, GTA6 etc. I game on a 3090 (waiting on 5090 to drop) but I wanted to get the Pro b/c I don’t like waiting on games to come to PC and want to play at the best day 1. If Sony ever goes PC day 1 then it’s a wrap for consoles for me.

So if you go out and buy a slim and say you want to upgrade memory 2tb you would have already spent the amount to buy a pro. It's a no brainer to me. And the advantage of Sony is thier games there are no better devs in the dev verse than Sony has other than Rockstar games. Pc is a headache because of errors and random issues. It's going to be a case by case scenario. Look up the comparisons of Ratchet and Clank pc vs ps5 or GoW Ragnarok... you cannot go by one game. In my opinion Ragnarok is a prettier game than Alen Wake...and it runs better than Alen Wake too. So a lot of it has to do with devs too, just something to keep in mind. Lol i remember when EQ2 came out and it played like garbage. I waited YEARS to go back and try it again with my 3080ti...and guess what...it was still a stuttering pile of trash.

I’ve owned just about every console. The ps5 pro isn’t worth the price but the system is worth it to me because the games I play it absolutely makes a difference. In smooth steady frames and fidelity now esp on f77 rebirth. I also am a mainstream pc gamer with a 4090. For me it’s the exclusives that Sony has that just don’t come to PC until way later if ever and I want to experience those games to the best of their ability. I got the ps5 in 2020 launch for 500 and sold it for 300 and put it towards the ps5 pro so didn’t bother me much. I’m well aware that pc is more powerful but my rig is almost 5k and majority of pc gamers ain’t paying that price. I still remember in 2006 when ps3 was 600 at launch lol. But consoles will always be the apple when it comes ease of use and set it and forget it on the big screen. Not everyone wants to kbm on a 1440p 27 inch display. Yes I’m aware you can pc games on bigger displays and use controllers but I’m talking most pc gamers don’t.

I’m a pony, but I always complain that graphics don’t look the resolution as advertised, and Sony is full of CAP but I always get shut down by fellow ponies. I’m a sound engineering I can take an inferior 16bit 44.1k sample audio file and export it to high quality 24bit 48k and mislead you as it being high quality. In pretty sure Sony is blowing up 720p gaming content and exporting it as 4k and using some cheap super resolution and labeling it (PSSR) to trick us ponies……😢😢

A 4080 cost more than the PS5 pro lol. What do you expect. A 4090 costs 3 times the price of a PS5 pro lol. What PS5 pro does is give you more options than the regular PS5 and that's fine with people who bought it. It also gives developers more flexibility for future titles which is the more important factor for the unit. PC gaming will always have better hardware, but not everyone can afford the best hardware neither.

Don’t listen to this goof, the ps5 pro can go higher but devs capped the fps for certain situations called DOUBLE BUFFERING, the ps5 pro go down to preserve the vsync range to prevent screen tearing, pc is unlimited so the pc range can stay in sync at any fps, and pc users always have TERRIBLE latency, so the frames lag really badly while ps5 pro can be snappy even with lower fps, not to mention the price of a pc is more than 7 times the price for the same graphics
