Claire Weekes called them the magic word to help you recovery and she was right. But how do you actually accept difficult thoughts and raging symptoms when in a state of fear?
In this video, I discuss what acceptance is, how to do it without 'bracing' and taking it one step further by 'allowing'.

'Surrender' always works for me. Surrender to the anxious thoughts and physical symptoms.

It's such a shame why this information isn't EVERYWHERE. This approach works; it's the only way. If only I had've known about this many years ago! Although I'm not yet recovered (it will happen when it's ready to), I've made some great progress so far. I find that my average daily anxiety/stress level has decreased compared with a month ago. I also find it easier to shift my focus from the intrusive thoughts now, rather than get involved with them. So many people are told that anxiety is dangerous and that they should take it very seriously. The media, most doctors and therapists are promoting avoidance (or other incorrect approaches) rather than promoting what Claire Weekes taught. Why? If it wasn't for the internet, I never would've knew about any of this.

Agree Claire Weekes books should be more widely publicised. She had the answer to the anxiety trap.

I think about that very often. Neither my therapist nor my psychiatrist told me about this. Yes it is hard as f- but it’s the only way.

@meliskayhan3655 I asked many therapist about Claire Weekes and most of them have no idea who she was. Here I am filling in questionnaire after questionnaire week after week for therapy session. What a joke. Claire Weekes gave me my life back. Bless her soul ❤

Most therapist, doctors etc act with good intention, unfortunately, they don't know any better - they are taught anxiety is a complex mental illness and so try to treat it that way we which is ultimately the wrong approach

Básicamente se trata de no reaccionar con miedo , yo lo hago asi , me doy cuenta de que me estoy asustando y entonces me recuerdo que no debo hacerlo , que no debo exagerar , luego sigo con mis actividades

Ok so I’ve been at the Allowing stage in the mornings when cortisol rears its head. When I accept and allow the symptoms to flow I fall back asleep and the cortisol hates it. It jerks me back awake like it’s saying “ Get up ..FIRE!!” So annoying 😢
@openchangeau
@openchangeau 3 күн бұрын
That's great success. Keep at it and over time the body will stop feeling the need to jerk you back awake as your sensitisation levels fall.

How do you do this when panic hits in the middle of the night? The only thing I need to be doing is sleeping. How do you refocus and move on to sleeping?

How is this done when speaking in front of a group? I find it difficult to pause and allow panic when people are expecting me to speak at the same time when panic kicks in.

I'd suggest you read/follow Mark Freeman, he narrows down the common denominator pretty well. It's never been about the labels :)
@openchangeau

The labels are ultimately a distraction - no one 'has' GAD or OCD. We all experience anxiety in different scenarios but the underlying cause and mechanism are always the same. I hope that helps.

@@openchangeau on ocd recovery channel they said you can recover from ocd but not cure. Like it something is genetic wrong at brain. Confusing.
@openchangeau
@openchangeau Ай бұрын
Yes we get mixed messages which is confusing - those who don't understand ocd assume it must be generic without really knowing why - I talk directly about OCD here kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5mqpWl7ltp2l5Ysi=6REa6THnAWe7MHME
