I have listened to this several times of late as it's so reassuring. I'm severely sensitized right now with adrenal surges and this is absolutely spot on.

Thanks Samuel! Something throwing me off is a lack of a general timeline to become desensitized. The issue that caused me to become hyperstimulated has been resolved. I've been putting into practice what you, Dr. Weekes, and others have been preaching for 7-8 months now. I have seen most symptoms fall off, and the frequency of my "worst symptoms" has decreased. But they're still there, nonetheless. It's hard to fight the voice in your head saying "am I doing this right? What's taking so long?" even after proof it's working.

Great to hear about your success despite doubts about recovery. This is extremely common and we need to treat any thoughts about recovery, how long etc as just more anxious thoughts to practice with. My setbacks playlist plus this video might help kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKDQk6JugJlkqMU

Hi Samuel. I have a question about the way to handle sensations. My nervous system feels tired, symptoms are high. For me it's difficult to feel if am just tired or to preoccupied with the symptoms and just need to do more in a mindfullness way. Simply put: rest more or more exposure. It feels like being burnout, mental tension. Maybe you have a video about this. It makes me feel unsecure. Rest or move through it.
@openchangeau31 минут бұрын
Good question and I need to do a video on fatigue so will add it to the list. Rest is important where we can get it, but we can also allow symptoms as they arise while we drop off to sleep, chill out in front of netflix, exercise etc. If we feel tired it's ok to accept that you might get caught out by symptoms a bit more, as we give ourselves permission to rest but still practice if difficult sensations arise.

Hi Sam ❤️ absolutely loving your videos, super grateful for your content 🙏 in regards to this video topic, say you had a anxious thought or a symptom : before i came accross your videos ive been doing NLP stuff so going "meh" , smiling then visualizing something nice or the outcome i do want for a few seconds . So its not "stopping "the thought, its more noticing your having a non life enhancing thought and redirecting down a different neuropathway. Wondering Whats your take on that -like is doing that sometimes ok or is that not allowing ? (Like is it contradictory to claire weeks style techniques )?🦄🙏
@openchangeau47 минут бұрын
Allowing is the gateway to a more positive outlook on life, but I recommend getting good at allowing first, and then starting to add in more positive thinking over time. Otherwise it's too hard and unrealistic to have anxious thoughts, allow then try and feel positive straight away.

Thankyou so much for sharing this for free Sam 🙏🦄 really awesome -was this like somatic meditation? This is the longest ive been able to "meditate" or "allow", for ages 🙏 really powerful. Super grateful if you could answer this: basically ive been doing NLP type brain retraining with a focus around neuroplasticity , to recover from chronic fatigue syndrome or ling covid (basically as i have learnt,its your nervous system stuck in fight/flight/freeze . Sndthetecare alot of habits and patterns and anxiety /fear loops and brain predictions that keep real symptoms going. But anxiety is a big part of the loop) hard to explain in a tiny comment here haha BUT question is: with the brain retraining ive dine its like redirecting your thoughts and patterns to what you do want, visualization etc. Ive read claire weeks book recently and watched your msin videos. What u teach resonates, but im just wondering if u think your approach of allowing or going loose is kinda a opposite approach to actively "changing your state thru what your thinking and visualization " (basically i want to use ur info, just not sure if these two ways are contradictory or not 🤣🙏🦄
@openchangeau55 минут бұрын
Great to hear Megan! My approach of allowing, is brain rewiring or neuroplasticity. Every time you allow, go loose you are creating or reinforcing new neural pathways to not take anxiety triggers, thoughts, symptoms so seriously. You are forming a calm response as opposed to a flight/fight reaction. So always ALLOW first, and if you want to then redirect or add in more positive thoughts, that's great, but sometimes people try to force the positive thoughts with an expectations to instantly feel better which can have the opposite effect.

This is an interesting one Sam. I have some of these anticipation thoughts leading up to going to office for work. They dont cause a great deal of discomfort, and I practice on them. However, when the office day comes, my body and mind go into flight/fight mode and, generally speaking, stay like that whilst I am in the office. This has obviously turned into a view that I will always feel like crap when I am in the office. I practice to the best of my ability, but this one has deep roots. Any suggestion about approaching this issue ?
@openchangeauСағат бұрын
The principles of the approach stay the same regardless of the trigger Damir as I am sure you know. If we were in a coaching session I would be unpacking how you practice in a bit more detail to identify where you might not be allowing or missing practice opportunities...

Your method and the way you explain the method, has helped me more than anyone. I've had anxiety for years, and listening to your videos, I'm starting to feel some relief. 😊 All thru my day, when I feel a negative thought or sensation, I say "okay, I'm gonna go loose"...I sag like a rag doll, breathe thru it, and it calms. I thank you for this 💗☺️

Hi Sam, would you say that it's best to avoid thought reframing/positive thinking with this technique? Thanks for the helpful videos, Ive been watching them all week. I would book a coaching session but I am in Scotland so time zones may interfere. Cheers
@openchangeauКүн бұрын
Hi Daniel - positive thinking & reframing is great to do, as long as it is not to mask or push away anxious thoughts or symptoms. It usually easier to float and allow and then move into positive thinking after if it feels right. I have a number of Scottish clients and they seem to find times ok so you can check availability through my booking link openchange.com.au/anxiety-coaching/

I have jelly legs and burning and tingling in my feet so I focus too much on leg exercises, like jogging for a few minutes or bouncing on a mini trampoline. Feels good while doing it but later the sensitive nerves are way overestimated. I hope to figure out the right amount of exercise. Sometimes walking is challenging and that makes me even more anxious. Your 30 minute meditation is very helpful. Thank you.

How is floating different from distraction? When floating the anxiety appears, but we don't give attention or importance to it, we simply go back to do what we were doing, how is this any different than scrolling Tik Tok when we are anxious? I assume the difference is in the intention behind it. Same action, different attitude, one of indifference, the other of fear and escaping. I wonder how this conciliates with the tips of Psychologists who say to give importance to your emotions and give them attention
@openchangeau3 күн бұрын
"Same action, different attitude, one of indifference, the other of fear and escaping" - exactly! We accept and don't resist the anxiety symptoms/thoughts, while staying open but move forward by going loose, floating or reengage with washing dishes etc. As opposed to desperately trying to distract yourself on Tiktok hoping the thoughts don't come back...
