Marsala! Pick up a jar of tikka marsala (I use Patal brand), add protein (sausage, diced chicken, pork), add veggies; potato, onion, carrot, broccoli, zucchini, whatever and half the jar of sauce for 1 cycle. Serve over rice (I'm lazy and mix it all together so the rice cooks in the sauce). Coconut Curry. I get S&B hot curry and use 1 square. Melt the square in enough coconut milk, sesame oil, to cover the bottom and turn on the rice cooker. After it's melted, turn off cooker, add coconut milk (rather than water), mix well and add chicken bits (cooked or not), onion, rice, veggies; broccoli, carrots, etc. 1 cycle and done. (Some cookers need weight to turn on so may have to add more milk.) I'm a big fan of coconut rice (a dash of lime) opt: cilantro. There's no limit to these. Aroma brand has a ton of recipes online. Also look at hot pot / electric lunchboxes for "countertop cooking" ideas. There really is no limit.

A great simple meal in a rice cooker is rice cooker rice and beans. After you wash your rice, you add it into the rice cooker with chicken or beef broth instead of water, then take a can of rinsed beans, toss that in, add in some spices (taco seasoning, curry, ras el hanout, whatever you want), a bit of garlic, bit of msg, and if you want some more veggies, I usually have a few bags of frozen corn, peas, carrots, green beans, spinach, and edamame to toss in a bit here and there. Fpr a single guy living alone who wants to go beyond freezer meals, rice cooker meals are absolutely fantastic, just toss it all in, turn it on, wait for it to be done. You can even eat it out of the cooking pot if you're feeling particularly lazy.

It's a miracle I'm alive. So, a rice cooker that can make one pot meals, that I can customize? Girl friend, you have inspired me. By the way, there was something so home-like about your video. The white tray that goes in after the rice and water is ideal for broccoli, Brussels sprouts, etc because it steams them through the holes in the bottom. The vegs are ready at the same time as the rice. I sometimes substitute chicken or beef broth instead of the water in the rice for extra flavour. Add some cooked beef or chicken near the end, put it all in a bowl and you have a yummy meal. I even have a small and a larger rice cooker for cooking family size meals.

Things I've cooked in a rice cooker: - quinoa - wash it, use "1 cup quinoa to 1 3/4 cups water" ratio, cook just like rice. You can use it in a salad or maybe as substitute for the rice in those recipes - hard boiled eggs - steam them in the steamer basket for 20 minutes, use external timer, not the one from the rice cooker. I take mine straight from the fridge. Awesome recipes :)

I was half-listening to your introduction because l was distracted by your lovely looking kitchen. The cabinet color is pretty and nice gold handles, open shelving and "accessories". It all has a stylish and homey feel. I was trying to look around you to see the rest. 😂😊

Ahh thank you so much! The cabinets aren't in great shape but we painted them and tried to fix them up the best we could! I'm definitely a DIY girl so I LOVE to hear nice comments like this!

I had a trusty rice cooker for years! It made PERFECT rice every time. Sadly, it was aluminum and I noticed the metal was eroding ( into my food😱)I searched high and low for a food safe stainless steel one and finally found one, but the rice burns on the bottom🤦♀️. Persians put oiled thin potatoes slices on the bottom to crisp and someday I might try that 😂🤣. I never thot of trying couscous. I also am going to try to find a steamer basket to fit in mine!Thx!

There are Silicone liners for rice cookers and IPOT. Fits right in the bottom. Real popular in Asia.

I never buy non-stick cookware because of the health issue, but I bought a STAINLESS STEEL rice cooker!! So happy with it. Been using it for several months and it's fantastic. There are so many things you can make in it... not just rice. In fact, I have NOT made rice in it and never will since I've been on the keto diet for multiple years and love the diet... and the skinny... and the superb health. What can I say? My life is so easy with the stainless steel rice cooker.

Nomads use these. It’s such an easy appliance and if using a portable power source, look for one with a lower wattage.

Great recipes 👌🎉 Why have I not yet used my rice cooker for meals other than rice ? 😋 lol. Very creative meals. I can't wait to try these. Especially, the sushi rice and salmon. Yum, it's like eating unwrapped sushi 🍣 snacks. Love it ❤❤❤😊😊

I have the larger version of that exact Black & Decker rice cooker you have in the video! I have been experimenting with different ways to use it. I use it to boil perogies and make Kraft Dinner 🥘 (🇨🇦mac. & cheese). I have steamed veggies and even boiled eggs 🥚 in the steamer basket. I made brown rice today. Very versatile appliance.
