Since I was a kid and my mom fed me cream of rice I loved it. I now make it by grinding long grain rice in my coffee grinder and cooking it in my rice cooker. 3 to 1 ratio of water to rice. I top it with tbsp of maple syrup and almond milk. Cost effective too.

Grits are a type of porridge made from ground corn that is not commonly available in Australia, so polenta is often used as a substitute. Grits can be made from white or yellow corn and are often labeled accordingly. They can be served with a variety of flavorings and are often eaten for breakfast. Grits taste like corn, plus whatever you cook them with, which can make them sweet, salty, spicy, or bland.
@YeshuaKingMessiahАй бұрын
Grits are simply cracked corn, polenta are just about the same coarseness so each can be used for the other Oats can be cracked also, then called steel cut/Scotch oats/Irish oats Buckwheat can be cracked also, often called “grits” too and when buckwheat is toasted it’s called kasha Ain’t grains fun?

Ya wanna know how it works, cause i just had to!!!😂 It's got a thermostat set at around 212f, the boiling point of water. When all the water has evaporated the thermostat kicks it down to keep warm. Rice is done.. Or anything else you're doing in your rice cooker. That's why the ratio of rice (or anything else) to water is so important. If you're making a cake or brownies, same thing..... The reason the toothpick comes out clean is cause all the water has evaporated. I haven't tried brownies tho cause it seems to me like they'd be on the dry side.😮 I guess you could try brownies, but id keep an eye on the time the first couple of tries. Thx for these videos, gonna binge my way through your channel.❤❤

I find the physics of how it works to be super interesting and so elegant in design! Have you noticed how a rice cooker flicks back up based on what you put in there and not just at a preset time? Allow me to nerd out a bit 😄 The main way a rice cooker works is through electromagnetism. The important thing to note is that one of the main ways of destroying magnetic properties in an object is through high heat (around 80C). When you flick that switch down, you're creating an electromagtic that makes contact with the metallic bowl and keeps it held down and also generates heat, which cooks your food. Since there's water at the bottom of the dish, the temperature can't go above the boiling point of water (100C) since that gets absorbed into the food and water. Water is an excellent conductor, don't forget. As the water in the bowl is absorbed into the food (as well as being lost through evaporation), less of it is left at the bottom of the bowl. Once most of it has gone this means that less of it can be absorbed away and so the bowl gets hotter and hotter. Once it's hot enough, the electromagnetic properties of the bowl are destroyed and the switch flicks back up and heat is no longer directly transferred into the bowl. The cool thing about it is that that's how the appliance "knows" that most of the excess water in the food has gone - physics! 😄

a trick I learned from my bestie, who had to hide veggies in the food since his wife (then fiance) avoided them at all costs... blend them, and then add to any sauce (like pasta sauce). This would work well for your rice cooker omelet.. it made me think of it when you were breaking up your spinach. I havent had a food processor in years, but have one of those personal blenders. Seriously, the best $14 (it was on sale, that's why I finally bought it) I have spent in awhile. The only sucky thing about it, is that too much frozen fruit will not allow the blades to turn. I have to let it sit for a bit when I am making smoothies. Also, I love that you have chia in your video. I have been using a mix of hemp, flax, and chia seeds for over 5 years, and it does help, especially with menopause stuff. I moosh them in my mortar and pestle, and then I have the jar in my fridge to use for anything and everything. I find the mix really helps me get the vitamins I normally lack, helps with energy (and not feeling so fatigued), and great for the gut health. I also use the cinnamon turmeric combo to help it all along as well. I am def going to try that pancake, although I dont use mixes; too many unknown ingredients that we don't need. yesterday, I decided to try and fry potatoes in my rice cooker. It worked great, although it kept going to warm. I am going to make some pho later today, . Oh, and I wanted to share with this audience... I have figured out a great hack for cooking rice with veggies in a cooker without a basket for it (my last one had a basket, which worked awesome for my bok choy). I allow the rice to cook for about 5 minutes (put butter and seasonings on the top of the rice). I then add my frozen veggies (that I flash thawed in running water in the collindar) and my fresh veggies on top. Then I let the cycle work its magic, and let it warm for about 5 minutes. None of the frozen veggies are crunchy, Sooooo good. I like to sometimes have mango habanero salsa with this concoction. Sweet and sour sauce is good too.

GREAT RECIPES, THANK YOU! 😍😋 6:52 A tip for anyone making pancakes or scrambled eggs: for the best oancakes, put a few dollops of sour cream into your batter and don’t beat the batter. Mis the batter no more than about 15 strokes- just enough to not see powder. You *want* to see lumps! This makes a super fluffy, creamy pancake! I only use butter in my pan- never oil. Oil makes them crispy and I don’t like that. Also, put a few dollops of pancake batter in your scrambled egg mixture and they’ll be flyffy and a lot more filling! 😊❤
