I haven't seen a lot of Clarence's training sessions, mostly because I tend to watch athletes who have a temparement more similar to mine (a very human tendency). I don't understand people who fret because someone else is stronger. I only began serious lifting at age 40 & I will only be able to catch up with my (diminished) potential around age 50. You do what you can as good as you can & that's it! (By all means, seek advice & coaching from knowledgeable persons if you don't know what you're doing.) It's always great to watch an elite athlete working up to his top sets. Clarence was very cautious about not doing too many heavy pulls as he ramped up to 320 kg & then he went all out... These limit sets on the deadlift take so much out of you!!! He still had the energy to crank out squats at 220 kg x 8 after this, which speaks volumes about his conditioning. What inspires me the most is the high motivation he seems to keep despite being done with competing in weightlifting. I wish him all the best! Every single day is a precious gift!
