Can I suggest a detailed video on ideal hand placement (gripping low on opponent's thumb, versus high, having the 'meat' of you thumb closer to the beginning of their fingers versus deep into the palm, etc) for toproll vs hook?

Great content brother. I had a question for you though. Since the locked pronation and backpressure lifts were in essence the same... would it be acceptable when checking both in the same day to just do the locked pronation until that fails and then switch over to the back pressure lift to get the maxxes on both? Or do you feel there is enough of a difference that they should be two separate lifting sessions?

Hi Chris, thank you for the video - it's very useful to have these exercises demonstrated. When you do the riser lift, does your riser have to stay intact just on the way up?
@ChrisDrummondAW
@ChrisDrummondAW Жыл бұрын
Well if it drops a bit but you can still lift it then it’s probably fine but if it drops noticeably you won’t be able to lift at all.

@@ChrisDrummondAW Thanks for the reply - I didn't word my question very well. I meant on the downward portion of the whole lift. For some reason my riser stays intact on the upward part of the lift but when I'm lowering the weight back to the floor my riser starts to dip. Perhaps I'm just mentally easing off after a successful lift?
@UnApologeticPatriot
@UnApologeticPatriot Жыл бұрын
@@turbobore9849 You could be mentally easing off or your riser is strong enough for the lift but doesn't have much endurance to keep the weight up.

Thank you for this video ! I don't have the specific handles and pulley systems, are there similar lifts with belts and free weights like for the first three lifts ? Is using a bag with handles (handles similar to belts) that you put as one in your hand, change anything from just lifting with one handle ? Thank you in advance if you or someone else reply to my questions.
@ChrisDrummondAW
@ChrisDrummondAW Жыл бұрын
I don’t know how a guy can do side pressure with any accuracy using free weights. As for handles, PVC pipe is cheap and available pretty much everywhere, anybody can make a wrist wrench for next to nothing. There are plenty if exercises for containment that don’t require a pulley or special handle but the weights won’t match up so it’s pointless to compare to this chart.

Would you count the Devon-style pronation lift off the ground as a locked pronation lift? Or does it have to be with the pulley?

im not sure but possibly to target your elbow flexion more rather than your riser, the higher the angel the more it'll target your hand since the straps applied there

hey am one of those weirdos who my pronation is stronger than my back pressure so is it okay to wrap a judo belt around my body and arm to eliminate the back pressure and test my pronation just to know where it's at or does it affect how much the pronation can handle i tried it and got 73 kg pronation mind u my back pressure is roughly around the 40 kg mark so a bit skeptical

Is there a reason why the side pressure pulley is higher than your hand
@ChrisDrummondAW
@ChrisDrummondAW Жыл бұрын
Just because pinning is done at a downwards angle. You can have a medium height pulley and just go straight sideways too. Going from low pulley will almost always be worse.

My pronation is WAY stronger than my elbow flexor, like just about 2x stronger. Or you can say my elbow flexor is way weaker lol
@ChrisDrummondAW
@ChrisDrummondAW 4 ай бұрын
Are you sure? A lot of people convince themselves that this is true by attempting to isolate their pronation by supporting their forearm and holding a weight like they’re doing a pronation lift but this is a totally false reflection of their pronation strength.
@Joe-mp4nw
@Joe-mp4nw 4 ай бұрын
@@ChrisDrummondAW ok well then it’s not 2x stronger, but it’s definitely stronger. Is that because when you’re using your bicep and pronation they’re basically fighting against each other? The main reason I know it’s stronger though is because my back pressure and pronation lift are the exact same.
@ChrisDrummondAW
@ChrisDrummondAW 4 ай бұрын
Supporting your forearm in a static hold arrests the rotation of your forearm. If you can actually pronate the weight up from a palm-up position when your forearm is supported, that’s one thing. Even so, pronation without backpressure does you no good and backpressure without pronation also does you no good. If you lose your pronation then your arm will open all the same. So ok, your pronation lift is the same as your backpressure lift. That’s not the norm, but so what? Keep training and keep trying to eliminate weaknesses.
@Joe-mp4nw
@Joe-mp4nw 4 ай бұрын
@@ChrisDrummondAW Ok yeah that makes sense, thanks man. And yeah I never really train it isolated, just when I do the normal pronation lift my pronation seems to feel more solid every time but my back pressure doesn’t progress at all. I’m just gonna eat more and try to figure something out lol
