I recognize the longing for lightness, simplification and calmness, somehow working with a slower rythm and enjoying the feeling of beauty and the danceing of light - 🎵💛🧡🎶

I only really started enjoying painting when I explored abstract painting. And I so enjoy watching other people paint, so I’m happy you’re enjoying it

This has been very helpful, thank you. It’s made me realise that the majority of my colours are bright and vivid and I have very few that are in the lighter range that you’re using here. So I shall be investigating this. I have a small painting I like but is telling me is unfinished, and I know it needs overpainting to provide more focus, but I haven’t known how to approach it.

Wonderful! Lighter colours help with contrast in the painting, which often makes it more interesting. And if you add duller colours next to more saturated colours it makes those stand out much more

@@jclosestudio Yes I'm doing CVP for the second year and part of the Academy too! Your 12x12 wooden boards gave me a hint ;)

Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I love your work. I see you use wooden boards instead of canvas. Where do you buy those boards? what kind of wood? Thanks again
@jclosestudio Жыл бұрын
Thank you! The best thing to use is plywood. You can just get that cut at the hardware store. The ones I use aren't plywood though. I use these from Jackson's: www.jacksonsart.com/jackson-s-5mm-wooden-painting-panels-pack-of-5?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292 When I work larger I do use canvas. The wood gets very heavy with larger sizes! But I like the more rigid surface of wood, which makes it easier to scratch into, sand etc.
