Man of Steel.....Wonder Woman.....and Batman Begins in that order are the top three origin stories ever. Even tho Batman Begins isn't part of the DCEU. But Marvel doesn't have a great origin story other than Iron Man 1 which was a great movie but all three of the DC films are better. The trinity rules at the end of the day. I've always thought that showing his at times difficult relationship with his father while growing up trying to understand who or what he was really grounded Syner's Superman. He isn't just some alien dude in red underwear that saves people in dire situations. He's one of them who just happens to be capable of truly amazing things. And, of course it helps that Cavil is so damn handsome and looks exactly like you'd expect Superman to look like.

@@Nauginaugi5 that doesn't mean it wasn't done too quickly. A death of superman story bears no weight if he dies in the second movie he's in because: a) he's integral to the JL being part of the trinity so i know he's coming back, lowering the stakes; b) he doesn't have the same stature in universe with the populace, evidenced by the debates about him and the hearing, meaning enough people distrust him enough that mourning him wouldn't suddenly be a worldwide event for someone that's only been around in public for a year or two; c) because he's only been around for a short period, the death hasn't been "earned" in terms of visibly dealing with planetary threats. His father seeing that moment was so beautiful. He realized that his son would one day want to help people and would be good at it. He was convinced that he would be something great. He saw it all on that day. His mother laughed it off but his father was envisioning his sons future.

This movie gets better each time you watch it. I saw it at the premier before the stupid loud crowds of today…hoping for the iconic Superman pose and little Clark does it. It was beyond perfect. Such a touch

There have been many Superman comics over the years where he rarely smiled. He doesn't have to wear a permanent smile in his face to be Superman. I think Zack Snyder understood Superman's character, emotions, and struggles better than people realized.

the scene of him as a kid with the beautiful music almost makes me cry. I like to think about how lucky he was to land in the yard of a small town farming couple. If he had been raised by anyone else think of how much of a different person he would have been. Small town farm life teaches you respect and hard, honest work without personal gain. If he had been raised by rich snobs in the city who knows what kind of superman he would be.

I wonder who the people are that disliked it, and why... This one scene alone seems like a masterpiece. Of course the soundtrack and the general tone of the movie contribute immensely to the end result. That subtle look between Clarke’s adoptive parents after they see him in the cape makes me tear up every time, and I cannot explain why. I guess it’s that look of soft pride on the father’s face and the adoration in the mum’s smile that makes it so impactful. Great writing, direction, and execution there. I really wish Clarke had seen the look on his father’s face.

And in addition, the Marvel comic superheroes are so campy and unbelievable. Captain America? Captain America would get their butt kicked faster than Superman taking off to fly somewhere. I'm surprised Marvel didn't make an Aquaman movie yet. I better keep my mouth shut before some Hollywood idiot decides to make a movie in that fashion.
