Very respectful operator, machine may load a few less trucks in a day,but will last a few years longer, super fair trade off.Probably best fuel cost with him on it as well,Money in the bank and peace of mind for the company with it being treated well here.

@PAmining truly a pleasure to watch and the unique perspective you give our mining/heavy equipment community is sincerely appreciated. You have provided me with knowledge and experience i never would have gotten without your expertly created videos.

They were rough and tough. And yes, I have watched the promotional videos. It's really cool to see the old footage.

What I found interesting was how the refered to a wheel loader as a "tractor shovel"...that was the first time I ever heard that term lol. Well thank you very much! I'm glad you really appreciate the time and effort I put into my videos. I can see this video was a pretty good hit on my channel, so I'll try to keep one ones coming of the 475. But as I'm sure you already know, I never film the same machine from the same view/angle twice.

@PAmining One of my favorite parts of the old footage is the music. I love the way the band music sounded back then, it reminds me of the music my mom used to play back in those days when she was in drum and bugle corps... it brings about a very comforting feeling that is hard to describe. In addition to that its pretty cool to hear the beginnings of electronic music with the introduction of the Moog synthesizer, very quintessential of the 60's and 70's. Great vid Justin, your videos are

Really as long as they want. We have parts machines just to keep one like this running in case something breaks. It's slow compared to modern loaders, but still moves material.

The 675B was the biggest of the baddest, 4 loader cylinders, there's some cool old promotional vids around here from the 1960's from Clark/Michigan.

Haha, yeah you are! When they get older like this everything starts to slow down on them. Back in the day, the 475 was a very popular stripping loader.

I used to work about twenty feet behind one of these monsters breaking rocks in a tiny jcb 3a in the early eighties . The 475 was feeding a massive jaw crusher and used to thunder down the ramp backwards spit out the brakes and go for another bucket full . One job you didnt fall asleep on haha . Loggers and crab fishers bhaa never been on a dangerous job.

@PAmining Its true, you could have one of these 475B's running for ages given you have enough parts machines laying around. Not only that, but if this company really really wanted to, they could even have parts custom made to keep the machine running. Point is, with enough money and want any machine can stay running forever.

@PAmining Noisy machine are the best!! But I dont have to sit in the ops seat all day lol. 700hp is still nothing to complain about! Thats for the correction Justin, appreciate it. Haha, I knew you'd do a walk around. Im just OCD about this stuff I guess, lol.

@ToonandBBfan Clark liked to build all of their machines with symmetry in every part. From the boom arms, to the 675's twin engines, to the hydraulic cylinder placement, everything had to be symmetrical.

@dingus8888 Just to expand on what Justin said its an automatic lubrication system which is run by a computer that tells it to pump definitive amounts of grease to hinge points after x amount of hours. Its used primarily on the larger machines that take larger amounts of grease in spots that are often more difficult to get at than smaller sized machines. This allows the operator to circumvent spending so much time greasing his machine each day.

PAmining if you have the right mechanic, you could get 810 hp out of a 1710 Cummins. I was on a bunch of different 475 B 's in TN for Vulcan thru the 80's and 90's when Vulcan started buying Cat loaders again. I moved on to a 375L ho with a 6yd bucket to strip with. Personally,I'd rather be on an 80 D Northwest

Ashlyn Meisner true longevity increases with less fuel pedal. Cost of repairs transmission drivetrain tires far outweigh a small increase in cycle time. Many new jack cowboys learn the hardway.

@Xx69roadrunnerxX I feel the same way about Michigan loaders, something about them keeps me crawling back for more. I guess its just the way Clark was such a pioneer of wheel loaders in their day and the way they built everything to be so tough, look so cool, and still manage to be relatively simplistic. Those vids dreamlandNV put on about Clark Michigan loaders are awesome, I've watched them too many times to count already... I bet you've watched them a bunch too, am i right? =D

Yeah I thought the "Tractor Shovel" terminology was pretty odd as well. Its funny how just about everything changes so much with time. But yea, keep up not filming the same machine twice. A lot of the time it not only makes for a bad second video but it also degrades from the first. Besides, there's always something new to be found in the mining and heavy equipment industries.
