My guess, based on the fact that it's from a vintage class ring, is synthetic Corundum.

A good guess, and highly likely. I wonder how transparent the company was with making sure everyone understood that the stones were synthetic, and what synthetic means.

My guess is that it's more likely a synthetic yellow sapphire...synthetic stones are much less costly than earth-mined gems, for lass rings, they don't use very expensive stone. Well, at least it's a corundum so it is a very hard stone with respectable toughness, good for years of wearing.
