Sensei, please have this book translated into English. You have so many fans in America and the United Kingdom. Keep up the great work. I stopped practicing aikido but every time I watch your videos, I am inspired to continue again.

I would very much like an English translation of this book too
For those wondering about the book, I believe it is called Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere. I recognized it due to the pictures illustrating various techniques that Ryuji - Sensei was performing in this video. It was one of my first aikido books and still sits on my bookshelf today. It is an incredibly vital resource for Aikido techniques, exercises, concepts, etc. Highly recommended.

Doesn't seem to be the same author? Dynamic Sphere was written by Oscar Ratti and Adele Westbrook

Not the same book.

@Layon_King Thank you for the correction. I initially thought it was due to the identical pictures shown in the video.
One of the best videos I've ever seen. Too good. Sensational. Thank you Sensei. 🙏

A lot of people dismissively say things like "that wouldn't work, why would they keep holding your wrist," but they don't know that the techniques are based on someone trying to prevent you being able to get your sword out to kill them. If they let go, they die, and the techniques are a tricksy way to draw your sword anyway despite their efforts. Yes in modern times nobody carries a sword, but once you learn the principles of the techniques there's no reason why you can't tweak them, and perhaps grab their wrist so that it doesn't matter if they let go. Look up some jujutsu demonstrations to see techniques common with aikido done in a more aggressive way that includes trapping the opponent's limbs so they can't just let go.
Mora than a Beautiful aikido, a impeccable technique!

Thank you! I’m nostalgic as well as you investigate the roots of Aikido!
Maybe you should visit in Iwama some day. You found traditional aikido in Iwama, there is no reason to re-engineering old style. Father of Hitohira Saito, Morihiro Saito, was Uchideshi of Morihei Ueshiba and live with O-Sensei many decades. Iwama Aikido is very different than "modern" Aikido, I mean Aikikai-style. You should read Morihei Ueshibas old books on compare Aikikai and Iwama aikido. You may found differences.

It's interesting to see how Aikido works against boxing.
Great to see the relations between open hand and weapons techniques. But I am surprised that in some of the knife attacks the knife hand is not controlled after the attacker has been brought down, eg at 8:41.

Interesting techniques. One thing about this is really aikido however: uke is not attacking. Instead uke hands over his hand, knife or sword. Aiki ju jutsu is reality based. At this level uke should attack with intent to hurt or kill. And every exercise should end with control or dispatchment.

Osh sensei 🙏 I am interested in what you talked about in the book you read. how to overcome boxing and karate. my friend tried it difficult. because the attack was quickly retracted.🙏
Para ser Aiki jujutsu siguio siendo muy blando, pero igual lo digo para ver si puede mostrarlos de forma mas fidedigna
