THANK YOU. This is the only video or instruction that I could find that told what those spacers in the back were for. I thought maybe they were some goofy bearing race (well I was warm)

Thanks, I have a 66 Aussie Beetle with the older type tie rods, a real pain to align my steering after fitting 2 1/2” dropped spindles, after a month I removed the spindles and fitted the old ones back, another pain to align back, but I’m leaving it stock now, but would like to fit front disc brakes, cheers for your video.
@jamiedowson6482 Жыл бұрын
Yes it can be a bit of a pain to align and so much easier when done on a lift. I am actually going to make some wooden stands that lift the car higher but keep the weight on the wheels. Thanks so much for watching. Jamie

Did you remember to grease that inside bearing and a thrust washer should be between the outer and the axle nut? Just asking?
@jamiedowson64823 ай бұрын
Hello there and thanks for asking. Yes I did thankfully. Maybe it should have been clearer in the video. Hope that it was of some help. Jamie

i recommend disk brakes all around, its night and day difference. plus, better brakes makes your Bug feel even more like a gokart. man Bug are so fun to drive, especially with some HP

Thanks for your comment. Yes I am planning to upgrade the rear brakes to discs also. Never had rear discs on a Beetle before so looking forward to seeing what they're like.

very easy job as it is just plug n play. If you have money, everything can be realized. What's unique is if you don't have money but you can use trash to convert your bugs with disc brake 🤣
@jamiedowson6482 Жыл бұрын
Yes exactly. This is a great and affordable kit. I recommend it for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting. Jamie

How did you get that spacer all the way in the spindle at 15:56? I am having a tough time😢
@jamiedowson64822 ай бұрын
Hello there. I tapped mine on with a blunt chisel. Tapping either side as it goes on to make sure it goes on square. If you’re having trouble then check for any burrs etc and check diameters of the collar and spindle with micrometer. Hope this helps and you get it sorted. Jamie
@mermatrix2 ай бұрын
success! I lightly rubbed the spindle with Emory paper , heated the spacer using a hair drier , applied a light coat of oil and tapped with a punch. Slide right on!

Where did you get those spindles? I'm trying to install the same empi disc kit in My 69 bug but, i just notice the inner bearing won't fit since the spindle is bigger (variable diameter)
@jamiedowson64824 ай бұрын
Hello there. Mine came with the kit but I would think they are available separately. Maybe worth contacting Empi directly. Jamie

Hey quick question how did you take off your grease cap on your disc brake and what tool did you use to take it off???
@jamiedowson6482 Жыл бұрын
Hello there. I either use a nice big pair of water pump pliers or tap it off with blunt chisel. Hope this helps. Jamie

Hi, which kid did you buy, the only one I can find by Empi has dropped spindles for a 1954 beetle.
@jamiedowson64827 ай бұрын
Hello there. www.paruzzi.com/uk/volkswagen/brakes-wheels/disc-brakes/3283/ I believe this is the kit that I used. I don't have dropped spindles or narrowed beam. Hope this helps. Jamie

Excellent! Thank you. I have a '73 Standard Bug and will be doing the same thing. I would love to see your paint all buffed out. Is it original paint?
@jamiedowson6482 Жыл бұрын
Hello. Glad you found this helpful and hope it helps with your installation. Parts of my 64 are original paint like the roof, bonnet and decklid but its had many patches painted so will keep it like it is for now. Rough like me!!!
