Not so much about cars, but apparently when the Baxters moved out of the "Hazel" house in 1965, Gidget and her father moved in (you can see the "Bewitched" house next door!)...

This show never aired in the UK, but the scene of the Morris Minor being hitched to the Pontiac shows what geriatric rubbish we were driving when you Americans were scooting around in your enormous jet age dream machines 😏
@rizzlerazzleuno47333 күн бұрын
Very nicely done. Thanks. I never saw the show, but this covers the best parts. Yes, it's true, in the 1960s in SoCal 73% of cars were convertibles, the rest were woodies or big honkin Ford or Mercury four door hard tops. The nearby country of Beverley Hills was only Continentals, Imperials, Eldorados or Rolls. 🚗
@mexicanspec18 сағат бұрын
I didn't know Beverly Hills was its own country.

OMG! Right at the 1:20 mark of this video, the surfboard has the famous "Harbour Surfboards" logo. They are still in business in Seal Beach, CA, and use that exact same logo. Cool Rangoon Red 65 Mustang convertible, just before this scene, too.

This show is still kind of fresh + there are some nice Pontiacs and Mustangs. ABC canceled this show even though it performed well in summer reruns, rather than admitting their mistake Sally Field became the ‘Flying Nun’.

Hello Mr. Kidd, I am 65 years old, and there is just something about the automobiles of the 1960s that no other decade could duplicate. I see that your a "Ford" man, me too. As a teenager, I drove my own automobile back and forth to high school, (a red 1966 Mustang Fastback with black interior and a 289 V8) Back in the 1960s, V8 engines where the very most popular. The younger generation has no idea about the 1960s automobiles. Please keep the videos coming! Please reply. Dave...

From Australia. My dad aged 17 when looking around for his first car in early 1970 saw a 1955 Cadillac in a used car yard, way beyond his budget. In the same yard was a 1954 Ford Customline station wagon, dad wanted to test drive it but the battery was flat. "Please, can I drive it?", dad pleaded. "Okay", the dealer said, they had to push start it, "For heaven's sake don't stall it in the traffic", the dealer said. Apparently the car drove okay, but the flat head V8 looked a bit suspect, water and oil leaks or something. Another car dad test drove was a 1960 Ford Falcon sedan, 144 cubic inch six, two speed automatic, no thanks. The Ford station wagon? Oh to be able to go back in time and get it! What car did dad eventually buy? A worn out 1957 Mk2 Ford Zephyr for $195 (Australian)

There is a real Gidget, The real scene in SoCal was so much more fascinating than this TV show. Characters like Jan & Dean, Nancy Sinatra, the infamous prototypical blond beach girl Jill... a book called Hollywood Eden is a must read for a take on Uni High kids and the whole Beach scene of early 60s
