This music just uplifts any production it's incorporated into. Seems Doctor Who never got as ambitious with its soundtracks after this period.

@@aarthoor That doesn't make the soundtrack unambitious. The kazoo, along with other unconventional instruments, makes the score sound all the more spooky, unusual, and unnerving, fitting of the story. There's more than one way to be ambitious, you know.

It did, just in different ways than this soundtrack. Besides, we can't exactly commend the Doctor Who production team for this score, as it's stock music and wasn't recorded specifically for the episode, but it was a good choice.

Beggars belief how most of this episode was wiped in the first place. It is one of the most unusual Dr Who stories of the 1960s. Up there with The War Games and The Mind Robber for sure. Not that I am complaining but I'm sure The Dominators was kept because it led into the Mind Robber opening and it was also the opening story for season six (1969). The Seeds of Death will always be my favourite Patrick Troughton episode because it was the first story of his that I ever saw and it was a classic base under siege story synonymous with his era. Season seven (1970) gave the program a real serious scientific flare not seen since and was a real contrast with season six with the arrival of colour television and all.

@@pressureworks From what I understand the last season of Patrick Troughton was broadcast in Brisbane Australia around May 1973 during the B & W era. The copies from knowledge were either destroyed or sent back to the BBC. If people were not such rule followers there we would have episodes one and four of The Invasion and most importantly The Space Pirates.

@@pressureworks Private film collectors and the like? David Whitaker who was heavily involved in the production of the DW program in the 1960s moved to Australia in the early or mid 1970s I think.

The BBC Wiped All of the Hartnell & Troughton era Episodes. Fewer Troughton era episodes were sent to over seas broadcasters, hence fewer were later recovered.
