Classic Game Room reviews CAR FIGHTER from Casio! Not to be confused with Road Fighter, Car Fighter shares much in common with Spy Hunter and plays like a boss on the mighty MSX computer.
Car Fighter is a driving and shooting action game where you race on roads, avoid bad guys, blow up tankers and shoot other cars with bombs and guns.

Thx Mark, i actually never heard or seen Car Fighter before, eventho the MSX was my life back in the 80's, it really looks like a spriterip from Road Fighter, except with shooting mechanics added.

Oh yes. Back in the day when games were made to be challenging, and you had to be a bad-ass and work hard to actually beat them. I loved those games. When I finished them, I felt accomplished.

I remember playing this on a friend's MSX back in the early 90's. I also remember it being really really hard. I'm pretty sure he had the game on a floppy disk though, not a cartridge. Later on we both moved to the Mega Drive. Good times.

I'm sure at least a part of your audience thought that when you said "I wanted some Combos" you meant some general term having to do with points in the game, however you actually meant a rancid pretzel snack with pizza filling that is an abomination unto the Lord.

I play this a lot using the commercial emulator on Windows store, Msxtalgia. And it's compatible with the 360 controller. I don't know if you guys know, but Windows 10 has got some sweet commercial emulators, like the ones for the Genesis, NES, SNES, PC-Engine and Master System(Genstalgia, SNEStalgia, NEStalgia, PCEstalgia, SMStalgia). P.S. - I'm not saying this could substitute the experience on a real retro console - I own all of these consoles myself, including the MSX - , but sometimes it's quite comfortable to just pick up and play using them with a Xbox controller. And they all look amazing in 1080p.

Car Fighter was a fun game and it clear that Casio had Konomi's Road Fighter in mind. Casio made some great games on the MSX.

No disrespect to Pennsylvania, but a couple of years ago my cousin and I drove from Virginia to Wilkes-Barre for a KISS concert, and that stretch of I-81 through Pa. had to be the worst interstate I've ever ridden on.

So did not realise this was a different game than Road Fighter, only just got a copy of this the other day, and hadn't had a chance to play it yet. Really looking forward to it now, as even though Road Fighter is an ok game, it can get a bit boring, this game how ever looks far more interesting.

Well, the MSX 1 was a bit worse than the NES, as it have fixed 16 colors (red not included) and no scrolling. Now MSX 2 does blow your socks off comparatively. Just look at something like Space Manbow or snatcher.
