Classic Game Room uses the super duper special RGB 21 cable or whatever to work with the SCART thingy from the MSX and ZX Spectrum to play awesome video games using the FRAMEMEISTER!
CGR shows an unboxing of Retro Gaming Cables RGB-21 cables to work with SCART to play MSX and ZX Spectrum on Framemeister with RGB Mini. Mark also talks Ned's Atomic Dustbin, one of the great underrated British bands from the 90s.

Make sure you're not connecting JPN 21 cables to Euro SCART cables. They look identical, but you can fry your hardware.

The spectrum and Amstrad computers all made that loading sound. I usually mute the to until loaded :) for reference, most spectrum and Amstrad games usually have Q,A,O,P and space as their default keys for up,down, left, right and "fire" respectively. Enjoy!

Thanks for recommending Ned's Atomic Dustbin! After I watched this, I searched them up on Spotify, heard a few songs, loved it, and then bought their discography CDs. Not the first time CGR helped me to discover something new. It happened with Truxton. ALL HAIL TRUXTON!!!

You got lucky, Enduro Racer's ZX Spectrum port is actually really good, especially compared to the Spectrum version of Outrun. And it's much more faithful to the arcade than the Master system port.

Amen, brother Gary...!! Its not a standard as in 'TV Standards', its a connector type. But it facilitates RGB which is the bit you're so (rightfully) impressed by! The only way for that arcade monitor like definition look, for sure. America had that beautiful NTSC standard though; And whilst PAL was better for movies/TV detail wise, when it came to gaming, USA/JAP/Canadian gamers had it so good vs our PAL format with its scanline-less squashed borders/graphics and the slower, more sluggish feel etc Getting RGB cables and modding consoles was always the dream for any gamer aware of this living in UK or Europe/Australia, (The best game mags like C+VG, Mean Machines etc reviews had screenshots of RGB monitors running their stuff in 60hz for the 1st few years til they started to use scans, when you've get the game home it would be like the burger joint scene in Falling Down..."Whats this sorry, squashed thing?") Now is a beautiful time where we can all have the pinnacle setup and have learned how the other guy lived.

Extremely nice image. I am really going to have to look into getting a Framemeister as I keep on having issues with capturing MSX 2 games especially and using software scaling is probably not doing the capture any good. Damn expensive though!

nothing wrong with the spectrum, as a British retro gamer I can confirm it makes that noise everything you load up a game, it's an irritating yet iconic sound

The sound of my childhood... I had a C64 with cassette drive, made the same dial up modem style squeaks and crackles :D And don't get me started on pirated games when you had to spend 10 minutes adjusting the head azimuth :)

The Spectrum will always make that noise. That's literally the sound of the data playing. Fun story, it worked in reverse. As in, you could record the sound onto a tape, and you'd have a copy (although obviously it was easier to just copy with a twin tape deck). There was a computing program over here in the 80s that would literally broadcast that noise over the end credits of the show, and if you recorded it and played in back on your computer you'd have basic programs. Calculators and very simple word processors and the like. The internet is an incredible thing, but I'm not sure if it's actually a little more incredible that 40 years ago we were filesharing via atonal robotic screeching broadcast over a dimly lit television studio. Also if you like Ned's Atomic Dustbin, I highly recommend you check out Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine (often abbreviated to just Carter USM). Very similar, although Carter used more electronic stuff and I think arguably had better songs. If you want a single song to check out I'd go with The Only Living Boy In New Cross but anything off 1992 The Love Album is good.

Only the 16k and 48k models had the rubber keyboard. The later ZX Spectrum 'Plus' had a different keyboard. When Sinclair was bought over by Amstrad, they essentially took on a similar design to the Amstrad CPC.
