This was actually better than Sega Rally Revo. Even if I couldn't play the career mode because of the japanese text. Arcade mode was self explanatory though.

I have the japanese set (like yourself) and it's absolutely brilliant like you say but I always come back to the Arcade perfect port of Sega Rally 1995.

Another enjoyable review Mark. I'm glad you were able to answer a question for me in my head as to whether or not US PS2 memory cards would work for the Japanese PS2 and Japanese library of games. I wish this game had a proper re-release. In fact I wish Sega Rally had more love in general by Sega in recent years. Just as long as it doesn't turn out like Daytona 3, we'll be okay.

@dziltener It is well known that the Dreamcast is graphically superior to the PlayStation 2. The Dreamcast was also the very first console to offer High Definition output.

This game has some awesome graphics and music, but the handling takes a bit of finesse. The career mode builds a brick wall language barrier, and many trackside objects will bring you to a dead stop if you hit them. This game is quite fun when you can keep your car off of the walls though.

This game was fun...for the 15 minutes I could put up with it. It was so much fun but I couldn't play Career mode because the menus in that particular segment are fully in Japanese. No one ever made a translation guide for the Career mode menus, I was grossly upset.

I figured out to navigate around Career Menu, but I struggle with trying to find out what are parts, which is Crucial for progressing the game.

This game gets a bad rap and I can't for the life of me understand why. It drives wonderfully, the sense of speed and frame rate is perfect, the graphics are some of the best on the console, and yet it still gets all this underserved criticism. It feels like classic Sega Rally, which I could never say about the PS3/360 version. And the physics are far improved over SR2.

I recommend recording "Game Over Yeah!" on a hand held recorder. But I warn you that is impossible to record on those things without saying "note to self" first.

Burnout Revenge has great graphics for a PS2 game. In 60 Hz with a component connection, it's almost on point with the Xbox 360 version.

@RikMcCloud I think with this one it was supposed to come out as a 10th anniversary package in 2005 but it ended up taking longer than expected to develop and came out in 2006 and hence the name which otherwise makes little sense. Since they missed the mark with the date and developement went on too long I think Sega regarded it as a lost cause.

Strange how it didn’t look as good as SEGA Rally 2 on the Dreamcast. I had the version with arcade perfect SEGA Rally arcade. No loading times, amazing sound. Shame it was Japan only.

If Hollywood really listens to its clientele then it should make a movie about the rise and fall of the "DAYYYY-TONAAAAAAAA" and "Game Over Yeah!" vocal quartet. Good game, too bad the career mode is all in Japanese. There are hundreds of tracks/track variations in the game but the great majority of them can only be unlocked through career mode. I think it would make sense releasing this game in Europe at least to reach a wider audience. Also is kind of stupid that there is no multiplayer mode. Fun game though, good one to play when I want to take a break from CMR2005 & WRC4.
