Pro tip - before you pour the molasses, gently coat the measuring cup with veg oil. The oil won't go into the mixture and it will keep your measuring cup clean of molasses.

Because of you I was able to successfully bake my first ever cake for my 66th bd and it came out perfect. I use a scale and I sift. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Made it in a Bundt pan because it's too hot in Florida to crank up the big oven to make layered cakes. Before this I failed at every attempt to bake a cake. While you can use the dough as soon as it's firm allowing it to rest overnight makes SUCH a difference. It allows the sugar to mature in the dough and get a richer flavour! Also the same for things like chocolate chip cookies containing brown sugar 😍 x

Made these yesterday, well I started off the day before as recommended, and yes, the dough gets soft pretty quick but the cookies came out Amazing!! My piping skills aren't as good as John's but all in all they looked great for an amateur! Made 3 dozen, I am wrapping these up in colorful green and red cellophane and X-mas plates for a Pre-Christmas get together. My 11 year old just made this cookie dough for a school “food truck” day. He picked a “Christmas food truck” as his. He will be taking them to school on Friday.
