Lovely! I noticed that on of the edges of the dough had lifted on one of the bigger pieces. A tip to prevent this is to put another baking sheet on top of the dough after you take it out of the oven, the weight will keep it flat :)

The most beautiful gingerbread house I’ve ever seen! And your calm patient teaching even helps me believe I could do it. Thank you so much!
@KateAlexander-l6x4 күн бұрын
I LOVE this wonderful house- I live in the UK and bought the plans and made it- it is really good, super helpful- my experience- go for overnight chilling of the dough, stay with thin peices- although my gable roof price broke (twice!) you can still build the roof as the bottom is resting against the gable- but you could a) reinforce with paper stuck behind the thin bit or b) possibly go for something I saw in another video where the roof had holes baked in it and it was tied together with ribbon/ string. My main learning point was do the decorating and Leave!! Don’t hurry to put it together- trust the design, it goes together very well so the dryer your decorating is, the less likely you are to smudge it when building the house. Kate

Wonderful ginger bread you had there. Just input, don't whip butter for more than 20-30 sec as the cookies will be puffed up and eventually the house design is gonna be ruined
@jesshallock5346 Жыл бұрын
Does whipping butter help a cookie be fluffier? So, not good for something like gingerbread but maybe good for other kinds of cookies?
@charitabletrader1581Ай бұрын
@@jesshallock5346the more you whip, the more air will be present. It will make for a fluffier cookie, but it will make the stability of the structure weaker. So for a house, minimally whip it so there is as little air as possible whipped into it. For cookies however, that fluffier texture is what’s desirable. So it just depends on what you’re making.

What a wonderful teaching video. You are an excellent teacher and you give so many great tips and suggestions along the way. I’m so glad that I found this video on YTube, because the only previous experience I have had with making and decorating a gingerbread house was with a cheap kit that I found at my local drugstore. I purchased one of these premade kits at the last minute as a fun project to do with one of my clients. I am a caregiver for older seniors and I am constantly looking for fun projects for us to do together. This is not only fun, but it also keeps their minds stimulated and gives them something fulfilling to accomplish. Anyway, this premade kit was I thought a good idea, but it turned out frustratingly difficult because it kept falling apart due to the icing that came with the kit being too thin to hold everything together! And I realized too late that we should have decorated each section separately, let them dry/harden first, and then put them together using a better quality icing. Oh well, you live and you learn! Thanks again for the very enjoyable video. I will have to definitely attempt this again, but from scratch and not a cheap kit! Merry Christmas to you and your family from a new subscriber!😄🎄🎁🎅🕊️🎄

I made one out of cardboard last year, with icing. I added a cardboard floor and hole in the roof to put cookies inside, because no one in my family likes to eat ginger bread. It looked like real gingerbread, plus, the floor meant I could still put lights in it. I'm working on this year's house right now and taking some inspiration from yours!

This is my first time watching one of your videos. I’ve been in the Christmas mood and I’ve been watching Christmas dessert baking, gingerbread house making, and cookie decorating videos. Your video got recommended to me and when I saw the thumbnail with the icicles and the designs on the gingerbread house, I had to watch. I wasn’t expecting to see you sitting down and talking in front the camera about your whole process, but I enjoyed listening. I love the way you wrote in your script. I also found it interesting that you created your design digitally. You put so much thought and effort into making your house perfect and I’m just amazed by your process and the outcome. The house came out beautifully. The design is something I don’t normally see for gingerbread houses. The henna inspired design is so cool to see here. Keep up the great work.
