I really like this electric mill (ghanti). it gives nice coarse texture. I like the idea of grinding rice and daal first and then soak, rather than soaking and then grinding. this is less messier.

Thanks for the wonderful recipe. Maam if it is already fermented why do we need baking powder. Can this be avoided. Also other lentils like whole moong, lobiya etc can be added.

Baking powder is optional but since I bake in the oven, it helps to bake well

For making soft Handvo, make little thick, to ferment instantly, prepare the batter with hot water and add ENO before making

Can you make the vagaar after you bake it. But will definitely try your way. That grinder is awesome. I doubt we can buy it in South Africa 🇿🇦 I love handvo but my recipe is so different and has nothing of yours but only your carrots. I will use my recipe and try your veggies. What a brilliant idea to keep all the flours ready. You’re so smart. I’ve been watching you for a long time. You’ve grown a lot. 🙏🌹🙏🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

I made this handavo using handava flour. I used only dudhi. It turn out great, my all time favourite tea time snack. Even if i used well greased nonstick cake tin. It stuck very badly at the bottom and sides. It really ruined my cake tin, when i bake cake it come out so nice without getting stuck.

@@rimpyvirk7554 she used 1 and half cup handavo flour, 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/4 cup oil and little water. If you watch the video slowly you will see everything.

+kamayani pathak yes, you can and no refrigeration needed if you are going to finish next day. I usually refrigerate if I have some left over after the next day. If baked properly, will stay good outside

Bhavnaji, super recipe. Handvo looked great. I don't have an oven at home, can I make it in Idli cooker, just like Idlies, with water steaming? If it cannot be made like Idlies, can it be made in pressure cooker like cake with sand or salt base? How much long to pre heat the pressure cooker, and how long to cook?

Followed the recepie. The handvo came out very moist from inside.. could it be bcoz I added more water? Also, does the thickness change the amount of time u should bake it for?

Yes to all. Add water if needed only after vegetables release water. If you want crunchy well baked handvo, make thin

Yes, it can be stored for up to 6 months in a cool dry place in an air tight container

We had a cook who used to make similar daal/lentil "cake" without rice. I've been searching for it since some years but I can't find any recipe or any person who could make it. I would highly appreciate it if you can share its recipe with us if you have made it. I could be wrong but it was probably made with Moong Daal.

Yes, traditionally, this recipe is made with mixed lentils only but nowadays, rice added but you can leave out rice from this recipe

Hi Bhavna, I have few queries..Can we use rice flour and gram flour instead of using dals and can vi put this in oven for few seconds for fermentation..i want to make it instant so..Thank you

The texture will be different with flour as this kind of recipes are made with coarse flour or by soaking rice daal

Really nice recipe details Always admire your videos I today tried the same recipe but handvo sticks to the glass bottom, yours comes out so nicely I dont have oil spray , I applied by hands Any idea why it sticks

I prefer oil spray when it comes to baking Handvo

So here you mentioned bake at 350degree for 45-60 minutes. And when i clicked on the link below for written recipe, you said bake at 400 degrees. Can u please specify what’s the correct temperature? Cause baking temp affects the whole thing.

For thin Handvo, use 350f and for thick Handvo 400f

Time depends on the thickness of Handvo and since my family like crispy top, I bake for about 30 minutes
