Loved your story. I remember my Dad taking me to SU factory in Bham in mid 60s. My 1973 1275GT had big valve race head and hot cam and single 1 1/2” SU.

Looking good Tom. 3in1 works well in the dashpot, nice quick throttle response I found. It did bog down though when setting off occasionally. I switched to su branded dashpot oil eventually, slightly thicker. See how you get on

Cheers dude! I've heard mixed things a lot of people mentioned the 3in1, I'll see how I get on, if all fails I'll jump on the other stuff you mentioned.

Cheers dude! And thanks for noticing! As I do try haha! I looked back on some old videos of mine the other day and I couldn’t believe the stuff I used to put out haha! The problem is it’s now become that polished I struggle to release anything that isn’t edited😂

You are a serious card pervert 😂. This brings back memories of over 30 years ago stripping and rebuilding carbs on MGA's, MGB's and Midgets and you're right it is a theraputic pass time, no point rushing because you'll mess up. The end result does make you feel good......omg I'm a pervert too!!

Hahah! Cheers Graeme! Really appreciate it! You’re right! I certainly am a metal pervert!

Why bother with the time and effort of using twin SU’s is beyond me. Yes classic carbs to go with the engine look. Obviously over looking the design is 60+ years old and not very refined plus the issue of balancing the 2. You claim to ‘be chasing horsepower’..... Look I did the whole 1380 in a mini thing back in 1989 when I was coming up 17, get a single 1 3/4 to run in the engine then get split 40 Weber’s More power, easier to set up and a million percent worth it for the induction noise when on Full chat.... Good luck and go with what’s best for what you want from the engine, not what looks period correct because if your trying that then your frankly Mongrel of a mini (it’s Black and white plates are illegal for starters) is too far gone to be considered OEM....but hey you turned a damn looking car....considering it’s Red 😁

Don’t want to cut the bulkhead out to fit Webber’s, doing what’s best for me and what I want to do if that ok ?
