I also went through some mild emotional turmoil when I heard a Commandos game described as "Desperados set in World War 2", but it's also kind of fun to hear how differently other people have experienced the era of classic PC games. Obviously everyone can't know every game, whether or not you're a professional games person. But what everyone DOES need to know is how awesome the main menu theme for Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty is. I never even beat the demo mission for that game, but the main menu theme still lives on in my head, 25 years later.

Long as they also release the original versions of the game with as little touched up as possible. I think Squenix did that with Super Mario RPG. Also the Trials of Mana (?). Feel even the originals would do better in the more online friendly climate than when they released. Also didn't hate Raccoon City so just freeing that up from GFWL and having it available again.

The whole game was an example of two great ideas in the same game can lead to each one making the other a bad idea. The "race the clock to save the survivors, interect with interesting NPCs and scenarios to uncover the mystery in a sped up 72 hours." And the "everything is weapon, endlessly creative zombie slaying action." They gave the tools to just go wild killing zombies in fun, crazy, hilarious, and creative ways. And that's what I wanted to do. But, then the game tells me that I can't do that because, I have to B-line in it to witness a main story event or, its game over. I literally made a b-line and after the first boss, the clown guy, I started being late for events probably because, I did the hot shot camera guy side story. And the game eventually said game over. So, I tried again and ran past the photo guy straight to the clown guy. Doing my best to run past the convicts in the jeep, if they appeared. Which don't appear if you're too early or too late. (i.e. there are missable events) Got to the clown, beat him, got back to the safe house area, and started the 2nd day. 30 real world minutes in to the 2nd day, missed event notifications began popping off so, I just began slaying zombies and the game eventually gave me a game over because, I had missed a major event. I couldn't get back into the game after that. I got bored of repeating the same few early events. And not being allowed to revel in the fighting and weapons system in the game. It felt like even taking photos could cost me too much time. I think the Deluxe Remaster should include a real time 72 hour mode. Meaning it would take the game being left on, unpaused, for 72 real world hours to reach the end of the game's 3 days.

I dunno, I think the only one that really feels different is the first, really nailed it down in AC2 (bring back the difficulty of AC2 it also got easier after that lol), the new RPG style ones are different in other mechanics but no so much controls or stealth

No new game controls. We need puppet controls especially for the classics. AC2 was a downgrade in some ways. The combat was made boring and easy. The level design doesn't work as well. Combat and parkour just felt better in AC1 than any other AC. The story, the vibe, the ambience, the fact that the whole world is telling the story as we move and explore in and out of the animus. I would be shocked if they managed to remake all of that today. Hoping

Wrong. This kind of toxic thinking is dumb in the extreme. Think about this (if you're capable of using that much brain capacity) Assassin's Creed 1 was almost 20 years ago. There are people now, almost adults, who have lived their ENTIRE LIFE after AC1 released, by the time they were old enough to be playing it there were 10 years of new games. Remakes are NOT FOR YOU who was there and who played the original, there are more new gamers now who weren't around back then, than there were gamers total at that time. It's for them, and also those like me who love to re-experience an old favourite at a modern level. Not only that, they are in ADDITION to a constant stream of fantastic new releases at every level Indie/AA/AAA. But a fake gamer wouldn't know that would they?

Dead rising is my favorite game, so to see the game recast the voice actor and look is terrible, I’d say for fans of the og it would be better if they kept the voice actors, update the gameplay in the sense of movement for all ai including zombies, with survivors having voices, Frank speaking on the the transporter with whoever on the other line speaking back… and most importantly if we could get more ending (which I think is the biggest stretch)

Much as I would prefer something new over a remaster, I think having remasters of the very popular titles would do good for games and their followings, especially if they were limited by old hardware/consoles. For games like Battlefield 3 (fingers crossed), Dead Rising, and Assassin's Creed, I think this could be good if they got a remaster. One where multiplayer lobbies were updated to modern player counts on consoles, crossplay enabled, smoother refresh, greater enemy density, (maybe) realization of cut-for-time content, et cetera. This is definitely a better deal for consoles, but bringing players into good games helps when you can show them a better looking game than something from a console generation they were never a part of.

For the longest time I wanted PS3 emulation, but I've had the opportunity to go back and play my old PS3 games this whole time since I still have a PS3, and I never have. PS3 was my absolute favorite gen with some of my favorite games, but tech, graphics, mechanics have come a long way and I dont really have a desire to go back and play old games. Many would disagree and thats fine, I'm not against it at all, but I'd rather see remasters. I WANT to play those older games, but with updated graphics and mechanics. Specifically Resistance 2.
