Way back in yee olden days, there was a guide on 2h Holy leveling guide that argued a fairly even spread between Holy and Ret allowed for minimal downtime with acceptable, consistent, solo damage. I used it. It was good. I wish I could find it again. This is pretty close.

One recommendation I have with the seal of crusader is to actual take your first swing on your target with the SOC active then apply the judgement of crusader to target and seal of righteousness to yourself in between the first and second attack. This is because you will get both the shorter attack timer (without the dmg reduction) for your second attack, and the increased holy damage for your SOR. That 40% haste attack at the start helps alleviate the initial damage lag from not doing a dmg judgement. It is actually equivalent, of not more, opening dmg than if you were to just judge righteousness at the start.

I've been doing this build with a little variation, and it's been great. Easily solos, and good to heal dungeons in! I feel like I spend more time dpsing than healing most dungeons, barring certain boss fights. Thanks for the vid!

Just what I've been looking for for some time now! Really enjoyed this one, I've been theory crafting a bunch on leveling as holy too. Since raw healing power isn't the most efficient stats before level 50 ish, I've been thinking about going for dmg talents and imp wisdom and go for ret after that for some improved white hits and what not since that's going to be the bread and butter for leveling a paladin. Just some quick thoughts. Thank you for making this, 10/10!

Int is much better for a paladin because spell crit. and spell crit = free healing.

To level in holy was a standard just like the end build of 26-25-0 was a standard in Vanilla. Consecration for low level dungeons is invaluable to save time on looking for a tank and to save time on looking for a healer. You can do all 3 roles in the entire leveling content. Instantly and for free, saving on that scarce gold. For soloing in BRD use the fire resist aura and preferably the holy/reck build which is more powerful vs several mobs. For dps in raids there is only 1 viable spec which ( unfortunately ) turns healing and tanking in challenging 5 mans into crap unless you have full epic gear for all roles.

Well holy would be an option if you are lvling with a group all the time,other than that you can heal in dungeon as prot or ret if you keep intellect gear too until about 50 lvl

I'm leveling as holy paladin in classic, with my brother playing prot warrior, just to go full on archetypes. I went for SoC and speed and spent the rest in holy. I must say, Spiritual Focus helps a lot in sticky situations. I can't play without it anymore. Illumination on the other hand wasn't a huge game changer due to low crit chance. But, when you get Divine Favor, it changes a lot - epic free holy light crit nukes are very live saving. I don't know how much more DPS full ret tree adds, but I know for sure I had to do much less corpse runs. It feels like I'm getting all I need from ret in those 13 points. I must say though that judging into prot warrior stuns increases my dps, so solo it might be slower. Now I'm getting 5% spell crit talent, Illumination stars saving more mana, which feels awesome. So all in all, I feel like holy tree is awesome. It allows me to have fun in dungeons. And it's just way tankier without much loss of power. You still wear str and two hander when solo. Even if it's weaker, I'd much rather prefer slower solo experience if it means more comfortable dungeon runs.

Don't put 5 points into Seal of Righteousness. Instead get increased healing, and consecration. Also pick up seal of command. Better heals, and more damage from cons and seal of command. I know SoR is constant damage but you really do more damage over all with SoC , when it procs it does significantly more damage and can crit.

I would only use SoR if you are using a 1 hander and shield , but if you are gonna level holy with a two hander then choose SoC because the damage will scale much higher with the two hander.

If you go holy, then don’t bother taking divine strength, you’ll get plenty of str from gears, and most people will itemize their paladin with melee dps gears, therefore they more than likely will lack intellect to be efficient while leveling, as you cannot go around the fact that you will need a lot pf mana for your damage output. Divine int is better to spread the stats more evenly imo

Bhelockharyh , well int is a buff of total int and as low level there isnt any int on the gear almost, the strength is just a pure bonus strength so i dont agree with u there, later when int gear comes around then yes change it but not from start

andreas hoof well you shouldn’t have 0 int on your gears as you level because past level 20 your leveling efficiency dunks hard, you need to cast more spells in order to kill mobs faster as auto attacks aren’t sufficient like they were pre level 20. So int is definitely important to have even at low level, BoW on its own is great but you need a decent mana pool nonetheless. Focusing on int on jewelery items and your cape is an easy way to get access to int early on, playing a paladin is all about balancing gears, too much of one or the other is bad

Playing on era right now and ive basically been told that no one will group with you if youre ret at 60. I always level ret but went prot during classic to tank the dungeons for pre bis. This build might be a good alternative to get into groups as a healer but also be able to solo

So I’ve been testing this out now at around level 15 plus, the nice thing about this build as I’m going along is that I have insane sustain. It’s working well actually, but I think things will really start to take off once I get illumination.

I don't think that spec is as viable for leveling as ret because you sacrifice damage talents early on for healing talents. Having healing in tight situations is important, but as paladin you have cooldowns such as bubble for tight situations, and I don't really see a point why do you want to keep healing while enemies are hitting you unless you are AoE grinding - which you are not. And in the end of a fight you will end up drinking mana anyway so I don't see how can it be only 5% slower than ret. My point - making a spec that is relying on mana as a melee class is not as good since you will need to drink a lot

I have levelled a lot of healers and if you want to level in healing spec, the key is to spend as much time in a group as possible, whether you are in a dungeon or out of it. That said you want to maximize your grouping potential and you are going to want to be in dungeons at the earliest level possible. Grinding mobs solo, is the last thing you want to be doing. So I would be speccing BoMight not divine strength. I would get divine intellect, spiritual focus and consecration, and then one point in improved lay on hands, and get illumination. At this point you are level 34 and people will be begging you to heal the mid-range dungeons, or the elite group areas.. You are going to be picking up enough blue gear dungeon loot, that your dps will be better than if you were grinding mobs with Ret talents. Also, you are doing good advertising for yourself, if you don't have a guild yet. From there you can go full Holy, or you can just get to Holy power and then spec into prot for the BoK/shield spec for a decent holy PvP build.

I tested out some builds, alot of gold spended. I recommend to stay ret whit slowest possible 2h soc til You get a nice str/Int gear. Just save gold.

Hey there! Interesting stuff but I think the video you showed from the start is rather misleading. It took me a second to realize that you were on a 5 man scales server meaning those mobs die quickly and you don’t take damage, making this build look like it does more damage than it actually does. For a new player joining in and looking they might think this is something that it’s not. Also 5% less damage then Ret is definitely not correct. Anyways don’t mean to be negative just want to clear things up so people aren’t mislead! Cheers!

I think I would get the consecration even though it isn't mana efficient. That extra reliable damage could come in handy if you pull multiple mobs or fighting a rare/elite/strong mob :) Is that footage of you clearing the BRD legit? Seems abit too easy? :D

Also if you are leveling with a 2 hander you use seal of the crusader which gives you 40% attack speed which is insane, while seal of righteousness has the same dps regardless of weapon used. AKA, a tank seal. This simple fact seems so elude pretty much every retri paladin out there.

​@@BeeLightning with the improved talent the damage reduce per hit is very marginal, also all chance to hit effect weapons and weapon enchants like frost/fiery and crusader are busted with SoC, not to mention the vengeance talent. Go and try out frost tiger blade with a frost enchant.

Are you able to heal dungeons as paladin without spec-ing into Holy? How does one level decently while also able to do dungeons? Even if not healing spec, will I need healing gear set? I'd like more detail into that.

From my experience, keeping some intellect/spirit gear helps with dungeons. You can just slap those on and spam Holy Light.

From my experience as holy leveler, I didn't start to feel like my holy spec was worth I until I got to Divine Favor. Those free nukes every two minutes can be super helpful. I feel like intellect gear in ret tree would be competent. But, still, holy tree makes your heals cost 10 percent less via Illumination returns and makes them 12 percent stronger via another 3/3 talent and later gives you 5 percent more spell crit and holy shock instant heal. In 40s I found mobs really start to hit hard and those fury tanks need a lot of healing. So all in all I would say 20 percent stronger healer than ret in intellect gear towards 40s.

Have you thought of SOC recharge SOR USE Devine favor cast holy shock By now the target is more than half dead Unless it's elet. Quickly charge up SOF To stop the humanoid from running in fear. Then proceed with a another SOR AND SHOCK Again. By then the target is dead and you probably only had to use Flash of light About 3 times. Also I level holy and in full cloth Intel spirit gear. Full intell and spirit gear Allows you to have A huge man a pool. Also a lot of my holy spells crit because of Intel. However I do use a heavy hitting 2 hander weapon.

Кирилл Бирюков i know this is late but hopefully it will help someone. Int and str are priority stats and at the build is favouring SoR over SoC you want to use a faster 2H weapon (faster than 3.5)

Dude. I like thinking outside the box .. but telling folks this build is only 5% slower overall than ret or aoe tank to level is misleading.. i would bet it is > 50% slower than ret and nearly 100 slower than aoe tank.

Agreed. The best way to lvl as holy would be to spam dungeons, but you'll miss out on being able to level proffs effectively and have the go back n poss grind lower lvl areas once you hit cap of 60

Healing question. Is it more efficient to use Holy Light on a tank when they are at about 60% or so and wait utilizing 5x5 or is it better to spam Flash of Light in dungeons? Flash of light DOES have slightly better efficiency mana wise, sure, but you need to cast more often. If I cast 1 Holy Light spell and sit for 10 seconds I can recover more mana than casting flash of light every 3-6 seconds ... or at least that 's how I saw it. I recently got kicked from a Stockades run because I'd go oom after 2 minutes of constant fighting .. where mind you our Hunter and Pally (dps) were out of mana 30 seconds into the fight and basically just doing white damage. The tank would either pull more or the mobs would run and pull more so it was a nightmare for me and they just blamed me for not healing enough. I didn't say it, since they just suddenly kicked me, but I kinda thought it was a dps problem because they didn't seem to have any focus fire and all mobs were on the tank for like 2 minutes straight before any of them started to die, making my job all the harder. This is coming from a holy specc'd pally leveling. I'm committed, although I've never leveled a pally before. Only time I healed was Resto Druid in Legion, so I am fairly new to all this. I even have a leather/clothy set for when healing for all that Int and Spirit.

You need to get +3% hit chance talent from protection tree. Without enough hit chance with 2h weapon, DPS lost is quite big.

You are always going to have people eager to group quest with you as a holy Paladin, because you all will almost never wipe and it greatly cuts down on the time spent eating and drinking. That is where Holy Paladin’s money will be made in leveling

both deep holy and deep retri are useless before 60, you need atleast 20% crit for vengeance and illumination to make them worthwhile, protection is by far the best for leveling. Protection has the most utility and is not gear dependent like the other 2.

Holly talents are just not useful for leveling. Only Holly Shock spell is actually. Percent bonuses you are getting from talents are so low. I prefer utility talents from Ret and Prot, and with the right gear, you can Heal, Tank or DPS whole leveling process anyway. 8% movement speed in Ret is so OP btw, better than any holly talent :)
