Usually I go like this: If you fear a move, prevent it, make it illegal in the best case. If you can do nothing about preventing it, then simply exchange the piece. But how can I go against that Qc2? Ironically, I also play it often when facing Nimzo-Indian, Ragozin or if I play against QGD. Keep in mind I play 3. Nf3 and not 3. Nc3, which takes it to the Neo-Modern variation. I guess you'll showcase it when you show the Tartakower defence. AFAIK, usually the Neo-Modern variation transposes to it.

Are you going to make a video about the KIA and English after you are finished with the d4 openings?

Hey Stjepan, could you please give me some advice? I'm about 1650 rated and I feel that I'm good at attacking and finding tactics, but my defendind is poor - I often find myself up an exchange or a piece and then fall apart not being able to defend a counterattack and draw/lose - my anticipation of opponent's threats is very poor. Are there any decent books that can help with that or good exercises that you know?

19:10 A line I like better for black is 9. cxd5 cxd4 10. Nxd4 Nxd5 11. Bxe7 Nxe7 Black still has problems with the light square bishop, but also refuses to accept an unfavorable IQP.

Why not join a 5 or 10 minutes themed tournament and put your research to use? So we can copy/learn from your games, That'd be cool! 😎

There have been some videos on the minority attack where AlphaZero has been nonplussed by it. It's possible the attack may be unsound.

if you know the theory of an opening, and then see something that is not part of it, it usually isn't a theoretical move for a reason, and that challenges you to figure out why that move is uncommon (and likely bad or simply not good)
@thomasedgerley74533 жыл бұрын
The reason to learn theory is to know how to punish it once theory isn't played. I'm a lower rated player, with a few good openings, but they haven't really helped, I'm studying middlegames more instead, I'm finding it a lot more useful at lower levels.

Why e takes d4 and not kb4 instead? White no longer has a isolated pawn and his knight is centralized
@kylen64303 жыл бұрын
Do you mean after black plays cxd4, Nxd4 instead? If so, it’s because white wants the pawn on d4 to control e5 and c5 squares...otherwise black can use them
