After My Man Godfrey this might be my favorite movie! And of course the Thin Man series. Annabella, Marvelous!

I just love William Powell. I’ve been stalking him, by watching all his movies I can find. What a handsome man he is 💚

William Powell is one of my favorite actors, and this was a movie I had heard of only recently, but never seen. So, thank you so much for providing me - and many others as well - the opportunity to see a movie that appears to have been forgotten or hidden over time. I will definitely watch it again now that I know where to find it!! Thank you again and take care.

The actress who played the Baroness mother was Aunt Miranda in the Shirley Temple movie Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. I absolutely love this movie. All the actors are wonderful. Love these old classics. So much better than the movies today.

Mary Ann, Movies today, reflect the politics of gloom and doom in Hollywood.. There are so few movies today that uplift your spirit.. or make you smile at the end.. I grew up in the 40s and 50s.. when movies had an uplifting theme... We, sadly, have lost that.. Sorry I brought politics into this.. but it's a fact of life these days sadly.. I miss movies like these and actors like these.. SOOO MUCH

One of the true gems of the era. William Powell was one of the most popular stars and this was one of his best performances. The screen play and direction were so perfect as well as the sound track...and Annabella...no wonder Tyrone Power fell in love with her. I've watched this over and over and never get tired of it. Thank you for letting me discover this great work of art.

In case anyone hasn't noticed at 1:55 that's the Australian Coat Of Arms on the service trolley!! That's definitely the map of Australia with an emu and a kangaroo there... but in HUNGARY!? The props department has a lot to answer for... but it's a nice giggle, even so! :-)

Probably because: 1. It's really old. 2. Relatively unknown to most. 3. It's in black in white. 4. William Powell has done a lot of films besides this.

I am a huge William Powell fan. He's exquisite in this role. My only complaint is I can't understand the countess. She might have been the French 'it' girl of the time but her accent is so thick I can understand about every 5th word.

My goodness gracious! I only understand about every 3rd word Annabella says. I have seen this movie before so I know the general idea of what she is saying, but I still have to stop it and go back to see what I missed. This was her first English Language role in the USA she got better and better. Powell is helping keep her focused.

Johann porok( William Powell) the butler of Hungarian prime minister count sandor( Henry Stephenson) is elected to parliament, though he remains loyal to the count and his family. Later the butler turned politician becomes publicly critical of his employer, the prime minister! Annabella is very good as the baroness-but her accent is suspect-nevertheless, she and Mr Powell have a good chemistry in this movie 🍿-Mr Powell has played a butler twice-in this one and my man Godfrey in 1936?! Good flick! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
