Cleanest 1965 Mustang You'll Ever See!

Purchased this extremely clean 1965 Mustang Coupe the other week. Being as the car was 6 hours away we had a choice to make... rent a truck and trailer and tow it home... OR... Drive it home! We were under the assumption the car was running but wasn't tuned properly. Upon arriving after a long journey we soon realized the car hadn't ran since last year. So, we got to wrenching! After a few hours of tweaking things; carb, timing, points gap, spark plugs, oil change, etc we got her running well enough to start our journey home! The 65 cruised all the way home without a skip in her beat! The good ol 6cyl and 3 spd trans was just sowing down the highway flawlessly! She's no race car but shes a great cruiser! Band: Rolling Stones, Car: 1966 Mustang GT350 Fastback with a 289 HIPO. I am the orignal owner of a 1 of 4306 1 year only 1978 King Cobra Mustang with 37,000 Miles. I put a 1966 289 HIPO thats bored, camed in it and has about 2000 miles on the motor.

Keep in mind .. I'm 66 years old! Favorite band .. gotta be The Beatles .. I lived the era! I was 13 when the '65 Mustang came out. I was 65 when I got my '13 Mustang .. just a base V6 Auto Coupe. Love that car.

@Jeff Lee Well this Mustang has a straight or in-line 6 cylinder engine of only 120 horsepower whereas his 2013 V6 Mustang makes 305 horsepower. In 1965 this was the standard engine very simple, reliable and easy to maintain but in the Mustang the equally reliable and more powerful 289 V8 is more desirable.

I had a blue 66 Mustang with a 200 cu 6-cylinder/auto trans and a dark green 69 Mustang Grande with a 302cu V8. This was back in the 70's. Beatles are my favorite group.

That's exactly like first car I had when I was 16. Bought it for $800 and sold it for $1100, of course that was late 1980s. That straight 6 is best running engine Ford ever made, it'll be great after tuned up. That's a great find.

Favorite band, Allman Brothers. Favorite car, my old 64 Fairlane 302 2V auto. Beautiful Mustang, I love it! So nice I'd have a hard time changing anything but I probably couldn't help myself from transplanting a V8 (289-302) four speed into it. Especially back when I was machining & building engines in a cpl race engine shops!

It's great to see an all original interior this clean. There are many restorers these days working on Mustangs and I wish they would soak in this video because no one I know comes close to replicating the interior. There is always this mod or that mod but when are we going to find a classicist that believes that what these 65' Mustangs had was perfect and complete?

At least we were able to see you following it though. Cars and bands change with my mood. There are several that come to mind. A safe answer no matter the mood would be a 65 Shelby GT350 and Led Zeppelin. Subject to change though.

Don't have a favorite band, but my favorite car is in my garage right now. 1966 mustang coupe c code 289 with an AOD tranny, shorty headers, custom 3" exhaust, 4 bbl carb and intake, roller cam, and 325 rear end. Her name is Sally, and she's putting about 400 horse to the ground with a top speed over 200 kph. The RCMP confirmed that for me...

4 lug wheels. The sure sign of a Falcon Sport Coupe. Nice shape for a rust belt car. My In-laws bought one new. I never understood the 6cyl. thing. I just bought a '65 Ranchero fresh 289 4 sp. no rust needs paint for 4K. They are fun little cars. Good luck with yours.

I have a 66 with the 200 inline 6 and 3 speed manual. I get between 25 and 28 mpg in my car. Redid my interior last summer. Great dependable cars.

The Mustang is immaculate, very well-kept, amazing!!!! Had a '99 Buick Park Avenue that looked like the one I saw parked behind the Stang, it got a wiring glitch that wouldn't let it crank after a year or 2 of otherwise solid driving, couldn't figure it out so I junked it. Favorite band: Theocracy Favorite car: Ford Fairmont/Mustang or the Mercury versions of said cars.

Do not have a favorite band but like any classic rock 50's 60's and 70's. I too love the 69' Mustang as my favorite car. I built a concours correct fastback with a 250ci six cylinder. It actually is very rare 69' Mustang E'. Google it to see what it is. Mine pops up for about half of the pictures. Great videos you have here.

I like a lot of bands but I would have to go with the Rolling Stones. They have been rocking longer than any other band and they won't let old age stop them. My favorite car is my dad's 1933 Packard rumble seat convertible. My favorite Mustang is the 1970 sports roof. I have a 65 fastback 289 4 speed and a 67 coupe 6 cyl 3 speed. Both are cleaner than the cleanest Mustang you ever saw. The cleanest Mustang I ever saw belongs to a friend who bought his 69 Mach 1 new and still has it. But your car is nice.

ive got a 289, but reg hub cap wheels, kind of dig the plain blacked out steel wheels, think ill black mine out as i cant drive it around the san fran bay area without the caps getting lifted....solves that issue
