The 49ers secondary was horrendous in 1998 and it was fully exposed the next season when the 49ers couldn’t score enough points to cover up this key weakness after Steve Young was lost for the year.

YEP, I totally agree with you and it showed why the 49ers went (4-12) and plus the Niners were over the salary cap kept a lot of veterans at least a year or two too late.
