Am just starting to learn the ‘drop thumb’. I seem to find it easier/smoother to play ‘drop thumb’ string with my pointer finger rather than the thumb. Before my ‘muscle memory’ is achieved wanted to check with you to see if there is a reason why I really should not use the pointer.

What I teach in the video is the "traditional" way of doing drop thumb similar to how most people do it on the banjo. There are no actual rules so if something else works for you that's fine. I'm not absolutely sure how you're playing it but it sounds like you might be playing like Pete Seeger referred to it in his great old banjo book as "up-picking" that used the index finger, where using the thumb he referred to "down-picking." As long as it sounds good and it works for you, go for it.

The drop thumb claw is Brush ,Pick string 3(with I or M) , Pick string 4(Thumb) + arpeggio 1214 (where Thumb is assigned to string 2& 4 and Index to string #1 only. )Is that correct.
