i got this game about 5-6 years ago. the disc got lost and i thought i'd never be able to play it again. well, yesterday at a bazaar i found a copy, and bought it without even thinking. it almost drove me to tears seeing my old save file was still there.

I feel it would've worked better on a ps3, but the ps3's time has passed. If released nowadays i have a feeling it will not bode well with the tastes of current players and critics and would have to be completely reworked from the ground up for it to work with massive changes to graphics and revamped gameplay it'll be a completely different game and no-one will be happy. The timeframe which it could've been remade in has passed, the only way i can see it being remade is if sony makes a new portable console, a game like this would suit something like that better than a fully fledged console like a ps4/5

@@EggiTheShadow my original comment already implied a graphical revamp or remake, but gor gameplay and narrative i don't it'd be a big issue, the original localization already changed a few things around in a way that would be seen as WORSE nowadays, as cor gameplay... I dunno,games like indivisible are relatively similar(for how similar anything can be made to AT1/2's combat system without seeming like a rip-off, which is actually not that much similar) and they've done pretty well. I don't think gameplay-wise it'd have troubles surviving nowadays, in fact, i feel like its anime themes and gameplay would actially be appraciated more nowadays, what would not be appreciated is the original localization.

One of the few reason why I did not play ps5 but switch. Of course there's amazing on ps5 but its not enough reason for me to buy it. I prefer switch because a lot of old game can be play there. I really miss ps2 game.

Great artstyle, great music great lore, great story, great game. I "accidently" played this masterpiece back in senior high school years (i'm 27 now) from friend's copy. Of course this game is my drug since i loved this kind of rpg so much. Played this and II in my PS2. God, how much i missed that time haha

I still love the very first Ar Tonelico, really nostalgic to hear the songs of Reyvateils, meaningful adventures, flying airships and beautiful memories in this game I sure had back many years ago. How I wished they release the game on PS4 console in PSN. Just listening to the opening song again put my heart to tears.

Already 2020, almost 2021 and I've picked up my controller to play this game again. This series deserves a remake, PERIOD. We need to get it trending on it's anniversary. Hell I'd even take for a rerelease of the OST digitally, but preferably on CDs.

It's a bit funny to find this comment itself be from 8 years ago now. But yes I am a huge sucker for openings like these. Show me that the game will be a grand adventure traveling to a variety of exotic locations, blending elements of futuristic settings with medieval sensibilities and plenty of characters from all walks of life. Often full of cliches as they can be, it still creates a feeling that there's about to be a whole wide world to go explore and discover.

Almost 7 years after Ar tonelico first came out, i have come back to listen to this magnificent song once again,. i loved it then, and still love it now. The cutest voice i heard was then that girl said "Ar Tonelico" at 1:49

They haven't really stopped: Ciel nosurge and Ar nosurge are prequels to Ar tonelico, and Ar nosurge is going to get released in Japan next March.

I have the game too. But I have a problem now. The game can't load saved data and it can't save my progress anymore. When i select either save or load it tells me Load Failed.(and right after i got the hymn purger!!!*tears*) I don't know what it's problem is. If you have an idea what it could be PLEEEAAASE tell me. I wish they make games like this again. Their newer Atelier shit stuff is all about moe and it actually destroyed the image of JRPG's lately. Good thing for 2017 though, Tales of Berseria, NieR, and Persona 5 set things right again. Not to mention the upcoming remake of FF7 and KH3. MAKE JRPGs GREAT AGAIN!

Ive pretty much given up all hope that this or any of the other games will get remastered versions or even a remake. Gust wont even guve us a collection of these games, even Square gave us Collection of Mana and a remake of Trials of Mana is coming next year. Not to mention the 1st half of FF7R us also coming next year. So yeah, screw you Gust, Branpesto, or whoever was in charge of publishing and developing.

Played this game in 2017. Poorly written story in marvelous world building, unexploited gameplay because very low difficulty, obsolete graphics... I can't say I found a great game, yet I had a good time listening to those songs and discovering this deep, sophisticated universe. That's still something I guess.
