Kobe's last game is the closest thing you can say is out of a movie. It was so perfect in how everything lined up for him. The last few minutes were unforgettable Kobe taking deep breaths during the time outs, barely able to stand, but knows it's all going to be over soon he wills his team to victory, not missing a single shot the rest of the game. That's some legendary shit nobody can match

I watched that game and the 82 point game when they happened. That last game was more special. For the reasons you mentioned. Just letting it all out and some how finding the energy to keep going even though he was completely spent.

I remember watching most of his games that season. Kobe was the reason I even started watching the NBA in the first place. It was endearing, in a way, that last season. Kobe finally looked like he was aging, he just couldn't play the game the way he used to. But he smiled and joked with the other players; he showed us all a part of him that I guess had been reserved for his life outside of basketball. He seemed so human that season. It always amazes me looking back at the footage from his last game. He was so exhausted; so damn sweaty! He was jumping so high for his jump shots that second half. You could really tell he was giving it his all; like he just NEEDED to capture that feeling for himself once more. It was a great thing, watching Kobe play, being a fan during his career. The NBA hasn't been the same for me since. He was truly the kind of player that made you wanna pick up a basketball and try it for yourself.

One of the best parts about that game, is that elsewhere Golden state was breaking the record for most games won in a season, and not a soul cared in the slightest because Kobe was painting a masterpiece of a final game for all who wanted to see.

if utah was not eliminated from playoff contention after the wolves locked up the 8th seed, and they needed to win this game to make playoffs, we never would have had this type of last game for kobe. utah would actually make an effort with double teams to not let him beat them. neverthless, legendary last game.

A lot of people has Kobe in a mixer. They often do not know where they will place him. He was great, until he wasn't cause of the injuries but his career speaks for itself. Those championship run during his #24 years beating 50-win teams capable of being champions themselves earned Kobe a spot on the 2nd half of top 10. Hard to put Kobe on top 5 given his last years, he was horrible but he kept the grind just to pass MJ to somewhat soothe his maniacal desire to have something more than MJ. Inspirational hooper though, his workrate is phenomenal.

Forever an enemy of my team and my fandom. But man there was something about him you just couldn't hate. A magician, a man with a maniacal work ethic, and a father. The world was robbed of his second act. You have Jordan's shot in the finals, you have Ray Allen's triple (you know which one), but few moments encapsulate a player better than him taking free throws on a torn Achilles. Forever missed, even from the crowd in San Antonio, I am sure I would have loved his take on Victor.

I’m a massive Celtics fan. I have been since I watched that 07-08 season as a kid, having grown up for 6 years in Mass. As a teenager, I was always “Bird”, the only white kid, always wearing green. Never, ever said “Kobe” when I shot. Pierce! Screw Kobe. That game 7 was brutal to watch. Injuries ruined my chance to play high school basketball, and it took 5 years for me to play again. About a year into picking up the game, I was living down in St Pete, FL and heard the news. He’d died. Kobe. It was one of those things you don’t think’ll hurt that bad. Until it’s sat with you for 10 minutes. An hour. 2. When I hit the court that evening, there were probably 10 more guys than usual, and everyone played like crazy… As I walked home, I swore I’d re-devote myself to the game. Now when people ask me what school I played at, I smile and think of Kobe. Edit: issalot, sorry lol

I feel so sorry for this generation of viewers that missed out on Kobe. Heart, loyalty, competitive nature, and feracity can't be measured and they'll never understand. Something you probably only see in movies. Winning it all while never backing down, never cheating the game, and taking the hard road. Jordan is the GOAT but my heart is biased and can't say Kobe isn't.

When Kobe hit 2 free throws on a torn Achilles, that's when I grained a new level of respect for kobe. Lebron would have cried and been carted off the court. Kobe was a different breed. We will never have a man like him in the league again.

I think it says a lot about Clayton’s integrity that he didn’t make a GOAT candidate video for Kobe back when he did the series three years ago. It’s obvious that he respects Bryant as a player enormously, and no one would have batted an eye if he made a GOAT video about Kobe back then, because for many people, he does rank up there. He could also quite easily have claimed that he didn’t do it as a way to capitalize on the tragic helicopter crash, since he was doing the GOAT series before the crash. This is a great video on its own as well, and while I’m one of those people who thinks Kobe is pretty overrated, I completely understand why so many loved and adored him. He was a brilliant player, and these two videos are wonderful tributes. Good job, man.

I was a Kobe hater most my life, even growing up in So Cal. I just always liked Shaq more & once I saw LeBron play I knew he was the one. I remember getting into debates all throughout middle school & high school, right as LeBron was starting to peak & Kobe won those final 2 championships. Every day on the school yard my friends and I would be debating the two based off new information from the previous nights games. Directly, although as the antagonist of my personal story, Kobe is the reason I got into basketball & data the way I did. I played basketball my whole life growing up and while I didn't want to be like Kobe, bc I saw him as selfish & a poor shot selector, I still took traits from him & I still learned from him far more than I would have ever realized before his death. His mentality & approach to the game, were traits I'd admired, even if I believed they had negative impacts in some aspects. I remember where I was when I found out the news of his death. I was working overnights at a grocery store in Austin, TX as a young adult. Due to that, I would sleep during the day. But that was my day off, I'd taken a nap after work and woke up to see the news. I couldn't believe it, I thought it HAD to be fake. Kobe? Dead? It didn't feel real, and it sure as hell didn't feel fair. I started to tear up & cry, the same way this video made me due & the same way I'm tearing up just remembering it now. But me? Cry over Kobe? I'd never cried over a celebrities death in my life, and to be crying over someone I was a hater of? It didn't make sense. But it's what made me realize the kind of role he played in my life & the part that he played in furthering my love of basketball. Regardless of me being a fan or a hater, I likely wouldn't love basketball the way I do if not for him. Since his death, watching some of the clips of him & seeing more of him & who he was, I've come to understand him more as a person. Still not the biggest fan of him on the basketball court, but truly started to appreciate who he was as a person. And it's because of him, that I try to show that appreciation for others. I don't want to spend another 20 years hating on some basketball player & not appreciating how good they are. I don't want to look for holes in people's resume. Our time on this planet is limited & we never know when it's going to end, so I want to appreciate each moment & each player / person for as long as I can. And I have Kobe to thank for that.
