WD-40 worked for me to remove melted vinyl cover on hot pipes. Let it cool completely(next day) spray on WD-40 and gently remove the residue with razon blade and wipe away as you go. repeat as many times necessary. worked great for me.

I haven’t tried it, but I can’t think of any reason it wouldn’t work.

Pretty neat trick. Will this work on stainless steel exhaust headers as well as chrome exhaust pipes?

Yes it does. I use it on a stainless pipe quite often (rain gear melt)

@@KnobleMoto excellent! Thanks so much for your quick response! I have a OEM coolant hose that touched a hot header pipe be accident and some of it melted on the pipe. Will this trick work on that issue? It’s stainless steel.

Also, what kind of easy off oven spray works best? I’m seeing heavy duty and fume free.

The first time I did it, was on a boot mark that was a few years old.

Black chrome, yes. Black paint, oh no! It would do serious damage to that high temp paint color.

@@2beards2bikes24 that’s tough. You are probably going to have to sand it, and they repaint it with more high temp paint. The odds of getting the black to match is slim. Maybe try some alcohol in a spot that can’t be seen to find out if that will damage the paint. Black exhaust paint is a pain.
