We recently broke down and got a cube shelf to store our homeschool/art stuff and we need another one too, but it's been magical the difference it makes in how easy it is to keep things categorized instead of piles sliding into each other! We're organized!

I would seriously consider putting your dining set away- u prob never use it and make that room a classroom with a shelving unit for all the supplies, a table and chairs for the kids to work at, etc.....shelves for books etc
