I’m going to suggest that WE who are Keto compliant, re-name our way as Free Keto. We are free to choose what works for us at the time. I’m not judging anybody else’s way to eat. And I’m not inviting anyone to judge mine with the negative terms like dirty or cheater.

Dirty, lazy, and realistic. You can’t always plan how things go in life on an everyday scale. I need to enjoy what I’m doing in order for it to be reality. I’m clean when I can be, but it isn’t always achievable. I don’t need guilt holding me back. Kudos to everyone! If you are doing this, you are awesome!

I love your approach. You are so practical and you have wonderful common sense. It bothers me when people get so fanatical about food that they drive people away who really NEED to be on KETO however it works for them. Your channel is a great service in that way. As for me: I am lazy/clean keto. Lazy because it is NOT in my temperament to obsess over a diet. It would wear me out and and I wouldn't last a week. Also, I am sick and strict keto would be impossible to cope with at this time in my life. And, I am CLEAN. VERY, VERY CLEAN. This is because I am not in this to lose weight, but because I suffer from some painful and dangerous health issues. I really MUST eat uber-clean or else I suffer big time. If I drove through McDonalds and threw it down the gullet like you gals do, I'd be back in bed the very next day because I simply cannot eat the oils, plastic contamination, and gluten cross-contamination that is prevalent at fast food joints. In my situation, it wouldn't be enough to ask for a burger without the bun because that food has been prepared in a kitchen that also prepares bread, dairy, dirty oils, and additives. Dirty would not work for me, but if you can do that, I am really happy for you. I would do that, too, if I weren't sick. If you are doing keto to lose weight, you can accomplish that by doing any type of keto and the weight will come off. And the so-called "dirty" method is healthier than any other diet's best version. But dirty will not do for a sick person. If you are doing keto to reverse chronic illness, LAZY WILL ABSOLUTELY WORK, but dirty will not work! When I started keto, I was far too sick to bother with tracking everything. I could barely get out of bed, let alone going on a crusade of strict ANYTHING. I simply developed a habit of eating 2 meals per day, and every plate had to have ½ cup of a low-carb vegetable, a small salad with a keto-friendly dressing, a 4 oz serving of protein, and a clean fat melted over everything. Simple. And, now that I am recovering, I am ready to branch out and start exploring yummy recipes like you ladies are sharing on this channel. I'd rather spend my hard-earned energy and precious well-being creating delicious low-carb meals rather that troubling myself with the draining task of counting macros. Chaffles! Here I come!

This was sooo encouraging to me. Thank you. I love the diversity and freedom with this keto plan. I'm more of an abstainer than moderation, I just can't do "balance" - it's kinda all or nothing for me. Then I get all legalistic and rule oriented and end up feeling restricted and frustrated and angry...and then I just unhinge my jaw and tip back the fridge - like, "just hand over the carbs and no one gets hurt". But, your approach feels easier, less pressure, and more grace-filled giving me some room to live. Thank you so much for this.

I started a low carb lifestyle when i was turning 40 and weighed 301 lbs. I'm now 60 and 105lbs lighter. I love your channel bc you have a sense of humor. For those on this keto journey where the pinnacle is perfection, to each his own. I need supportive people, not divisive. Sustainable routines depend on individual personalities. I follow lazy, clean, and dirty keto using intuitive eating. That's a mouthful ! So I'm keto and that's it. I tried a more clean approach weighing and measuring. Doing that brought me to a manic place where all I thought about was food. Eating keto intuitively is something that has been working for me the past 7 months. Even though I lose at a 🐌 pace. You vlogs are very informative and inspiring.

Hi Ladies! It's awesome that you are living a ketogenic lifestyle together... Congratulations on your weight loss...and thanks for sharing... I've been living keto since May 2019... I started out weighing food, counting calories, and logging...which I don't do anymore... I agree the logging and counting feels less sustainable... I do what I've heard called intuitive keto, I don't eat anything that's not keto friendly, and I keep my carbs under 20 net grams... it continues to work for me and I feel great... So I agree you need to listen to your body and do what works best for you... Everyone's journey is different... Keto On! 👍🏽

I couldn't agree more with your message! Definitely you do you on your journey!! I definitely am Lazy, Dirty Keto for the most part. When I can afford it, I clean it up with organic products. However to keep myself in check I do have to track a couple of weeks each month or else I do find myself not being honest with how much I am eating. I am part of SOOO many Facebook groups and it makes me so angry to read some of the hate people get for what they eat. I just have to click off LOL

I consider myself strict no more than 20 total carbs, but I do not track every morsel. I used scales & an app in the beginning to get a handle on what portion sizes look like. For me, right now if I have a diet soda or a “keto” cookie or the fabulous tasting carb balance or similar wraps, cauli rice etc., I lose control. I’m not at that place yet, as you both have mentioned, “you don’t eat all your fabulous recipe’s, all the time”. Learning what works for your body is key, not labeling it. You both have learned that. Thanks for all you do.

Right, there's a difference between informing and attacking, and no one should be attacking anyone who is applying to keto the best they can. I also want to point out that different people exist in different economic brackets. Encourage people from where they're at and with what they have, and help in ways that are realistic and reasonable with regard to their situation.

I had Edema in both of my legs and started what you would call lazy keto and restricted to 21 carbs a day and I swear I lost 16 pounds of water and the Edema in my legs is pretty much gone. Now let me tell you I’ve had a serious love affair with sweet tarts I gave them up cold turkey, and I would still love them but I don’t need them anymore. Now that I’ve seen what the processed sugar does I’m more apt to stay away. Your videos rock and are so insightful and helpful. Just a sidenote that I have multiple sclerosis and doing this has helped greatly. I use a tracker for carbs because they’re everywhere.

It is pretty simple really. Don't let not being perfect keep you from the good. The seed oils certainly cause inflammation.. But you aren't getting type 2 diabetes to go along with it. I would never eat items cooked in vegetable oil or mayo with soybean / canola oil. And I would tell anyone who will listen why I don't. At the same time, not starting becuase it's too hard is certainly a thing. So, just cut the carbs. Initially to less than 100 a day.. Then 50.. Then 20. Use net carbs or total carbs. Whatever you will actually do. As you start feeling better, do more things. When you are comfortable with your progress, stop there. I reversed prediabetes and hypertension and lost 85 to 90 pounds. Fixed vision issues caused by bloid sugar and fixed extremity numbness. I don't do seed oils (as I said before) .. But I do use artificial sweetners. Not all the time.. But I like a sweetner in my coffee. Just do something other than the crap standard diet that cause metabolic disease. I guarantee you that when you start seeing results and feeling better, you will do more things to help you stay that way. Just do it.

Hmmm.........I think I do a combination. I track my macros, but I don't weigh anything........I estimate. I think it would be a pain to weigh everything, and I think I would give up easily. I stay under 20 carbs a day, and I eat just about anything if it fits my macros except for pasta, potatoes, regular bread, and anything that has real sugar in it. It has been working for me. Down 35 pounds in 5 months and I am now 5 pounds away from goal weight so weight loss has really slowed down for me. I plan to eat this way for the rest of my life, and I don't find it difficult. You did a good job explaining the differences today. Everyone has to do what works for their own weight loss journey. Thanks so much!

Right now, dealing with stubborn insulin resistance (prediabetes), I'm weighing my food and logging everything in an app. This, however, is a short-term strategy for me. Once I've firmly established my new eating habits (a mix of keto and carnivore) and once I've achieved my healthy weight, I plan to switch to lazy/dirty keto for lifelong maintenance. It seems to be far more sustainable and enjoyable than the purist versions of these nutritional lifestyles.

Okay, even though this is an older video, I'm going to comment since I just saw it. I guess I'm dirty/lazy keto. I don't track anything but try to stay under 20 net carbs a day. I usually eat 2 meals a days but don't overdo either one. Occasionally, I do have a cheat meal, usually when I go out to eat with friends. I enjoy it and then get right back on keto. It doesn't seem to do any damage, so I don't worry about it. I have lost 30 lbs. since the first of the year and am about half way to my goal. I enjoy your videos for your information and your humor. I also don't follow strict or clean keto all of the time. I swear by the use of low carb tortillas, and eat them almost daily! I don't use grass fed meat, unless its on sale, never use organic dairy because its expensive, drink 3 diet sodas every day (in addition to plenty of water), and I have lost 83 lbs so far, reversed insulin resistance, reversed type 2 diabetes, improved non alcoholic fatty liver disease, and healed my body! I feel like I eat like a king! The strictest thing i do is track my food on my fitness pal, but not always on the weekend. It works for me, it can work for everyone.

So right that it has to become your lifestyle of eating. And terms dirty and lazy are too negative. For me, I eat low carb, non-processed food, no sugar, protein, and healthy fat. Let’s call that something positive! The original Atkins was too strict for a lifetime and it eventually added a big salad every day.

There is no need to judge another person. I thank you again for youe encouragement and wish you both the best. Keep doing you :)

Love this so much. I’ve been doing keto for 1 month so am a newbie but have been so happy with my progress. I think there is the reality of budget as well to consider. When I started I didn’t know about all the categories and really focused on just staying under 20 net carbs. I always try to focus on the best quality of meats when possible, but honestly my budget determines that as well. Thank you so much for your video’s, recipes, and sharing of your stories. They have been incredibly helpful for me! Only a month in I haven’t researched yet, but do you have a video on your grocery store staples?

Great job ladies, I hope I can do as well as you have. I call what I do similar to you but 2 meals a day. No cheat meals for me and I count total carbs (usually 20). I have to do what I know I can do forever. Love your videos.

I strive to be clean keto! But there are things that happen in my social life: eating out with friends, eating at friends houses, traveling social events that always have foods! Yup I’m lazy dirty and happy eating keto as the best way I can! And loving the people around me!

Flexibility is key. The right way to do it is to do what works for you!! Some folks need the structure of tracking some folks feel like that is torture. Fins what works for you, stick with it and it will pay off. I myself am trying to find that balance. I can't do strict and clean ALL the time. I do organic dairy and veg as much as possible but I just don't like the taste of grass fed beef, and I've tried several kinds. If you choose to go off a day or a meal enjoy it but get right back on, the longer you wait the worse it will be. AND just because you go off for a meal doesn't give you the green light to eat every carb in sight because you think you've blown it. This is the hardest for me, I'm an all or nothing, go big or go home kind of person and still a work in progress but I'm down 20 lbs and counting :)

The whole Grass fed organic wild caught non gmo... do you know how expensive that can be... In some parts of the US (California where I am) that can be $200 a month for food, and maybe that sounds great to some of you and you wish you could be clean Keto for that. For me its prohibitively expensive. I get what I can afford. I am also not willing to go without indulgences, I feel as you do, if you feel continuously deprived and never get to indulge and eat what you want to eat, well I wont speak for you but if I were to do that I would be off Keto in a week or 2. You know what, clean, dirty lazy, whatever, if your losing the weight doing it does it really matter. You do you.

If you have to worry about Macros all of the time and worry that you perhaps have not done something right on keto/low carb, you never escape from the ball and chain of the old days of being on every diet under the sun. Why add chains to yourself when you can keep it simple and be free by listening to your body, minimizing carbs and eating until you're full but not stuffed! Therein is freedom!

I think I fall under all the categories! Clean because I don't eat processed foods (MOST of the time) Dirty because I don't but organic and grass-fed Lazy because I don't track macros Strict because I weigh my food and measure my cream That last one is important because if I don't measure I'm chancing a stomach ache.

you ladies are great, my storie is similar to yours with starting ana stopping keto, but even if i’m not losing i feel so much better on it, i try to be as clean as possible, but reality is i’m not not going to measure every bite and i have a life so sometimes its a mcdonald’s cheeseburger hold bun kind of day!

I agree with you plus I eat Kosher, so meat wise more restrictive than other folks eating Keto, but I have not eaten pork or shelfish in 23 years. But I have lost inches, weight & haven't felt this good since my 20's, so that is 30+ years!!!

Didn't realize there were so many subgenres. Well I guess I fit into lazy dirty too. I've lost 40 lbs. Was losing steadily eating OMAD. But then I started eating anytime I felt hungry. Haven't lost anymore weight in weeks. But I haven't gained any if back either. I don't track calories or carbs. I just know all the food I bring in the house is very low to zero carbs. All documenting and calculating us not sustainable for me.

You two make so much sense. I suppose I’m lazy or dirty keto too, although we HAVE to get rid of those terms! I eat whatever I want of no carb foods once a day, and sometimes have veg or a low carb keto treat for dessert, like raspberries and cream or, rarely a mug cake. I don’t feel lazy or dirty. I don’t count anything and I’m not dieting. I’ve found a way of eating that I think is healthy and sustainable. I hate telling people I’m keto because it gets so many negative comments from people who don’t understand. I like Dr Berry’s term ‘proper human diet.’ Essentially we eat FOOD not food-like substances, or food that’s been bred to the point it no longer resembles food. And I can’t be dieting, cos I eat as much as I want and I’m never (rarely) hungry. I don’t ‘cheat’ but I do sometimes choose to eat something off plan at a birthday or special occasion, but I rarely even want to do that. I love your videos. You are fun and real and no games or pretences or preaching at people. Keep up your wonderful work.
