Dont feel bad about your content, brother. There's literally hundreds if not thousands of channels on here that showcase dropping $30-50k in parts and time-lapse to completion. Your approach is much more detailed, and tbh more real. We can relate to you. You address the stuff that very few people do, and you bring us along for the adventure. Thank you for sharing this experience! Seeing that my plastic, hood-release latch broke on my Lancer, I figured that I could just go ahead and toss-out everything pertaining to said issue for some weight savings; and just have pins alike you're showcasing here. Of course, replacing the simple piece for the hood-release inside of the car would be cheaper and easier, buttttt such gave me a reason to do exactly what I always intended to do beforehand. Besides, I think the cable needs replacing as well, so since I have to take it out anyway . . . OUT of the engine bay is where it shall stay! 🤷🏼😂🤘 Seeing you guys do this just gave me more of a motive to do this (and my old, oem hood will serve as practice since it needs to be replaced later-on via CF anyway 😂), so thanks once again. 👊💪

thats pretty slick putting the backing plate inside. You are rarely are ever gonna run into a flat underside to hold it. Hey Tanner, just eyeballing this job for my car now and i sorta had an observation and a question. Could you have just allowed for the fact that the hood pin goes thru the hood at an angle when fully closed and then maybe just used a small holesaw to cut through the underside for the hood pin hole and then just slid the mounting plate through into the bonnet and screwed it together like you did in your vid? I'm trying to do a smaller cut than you did to the underside of your hood, even tho yours looks way cleaner than most other hack jobs ive seen while searching for an install vid! Password JDM used to make a mounting plate so you didn't have to cut a hole at all but sadly they don't make it anymore.
