This is the GREASIEST stovetop I have ever encountered! I will show you how I cleaned it without scrubbing. I only used 1 cleaner and it made this greasy mess wipe away with just paper towels.I was absolutely amazed how to clean grease off stove and you will be too.
I tried a steam cleaner. NOPE. Zep degreaser. NOPE. What actually worked to get this greasy stove clean will blow your mind!!

@@tracydavis7705 No, I didn't. I just followed what she did, but I think I didn't let it sit overnight, which I probably should have. Not all the grease came off, but it made a big difference. The smell was just so strong (though the plastic wrap really helped) that I couldn't wait to get it all off.

I'd add though, be careful if you have older pipes (like I do) and if you decide to dispose of the unused Ammonia solution. I googled and found that I could pour it into the sink as long as I do it slowly and turn the tap on to dilute it, but we ended up getting a small leak under the sink after pouring out the ammonia, which we don't know if it had to do with the solution being too strong.

Am writing from Nairobi, Kenya and watched your video a few days ago. I had to try your idea. We don't have Dollar Tree here so to get ammonia and large Ziploc bags is not possible. I managed to get ammonia solution from a supplier of lab chemicals at a cost of 1.5 dollars. I had to soak my stove top for 2 nights and a day. I was amazed when all the gung and grime came away. It was so hard like cement and I had totally given up on it. Now its like new. Thanks so much

My mom was doing that back in the 1050’s. works like a champ. I go to dollar tree and buy containers of ammonia water. Have a tub with cover that I fill with ammonia water. soak all items from stove top over night. Do the exact same thing with paper towels and saran wrap for the stove top. As for the oven, get a 9 x 13 glass cake pan put a dish cloth inside and fill half way up with ammonia water. Heat your oven to 350, turn oven off and place cake pan in oven. you will. e surprised as to what you find in the morning. All the mess will be on the floor of the oven. Just wipe out with paper towels. The oven walls, racks and ceiling will be shiny clean.

Years ago I had a rental property that had a stove that had grease that was caked on and hard. I went to buy new parts and grills that would have cost $100’s. The store owner told me to take the loose parts, 1 cup of ammonia and put it all in a sealed plastic trash bag outside in the sun. When we checked it a few hours later, it all came off! We hosed it off (not near any plants) and they were like new. It seems the fumes were what cleaned it. Great idea for the stove top! Saturated paper towels and Saran Wrap!

@@gordanazakula5669 You already know, but it's never too late to repeat it to others: NEVER use ammonia and bleach together. Combined they make poisonous gas. There are other things that are dangerous with bleach, such as vinegar and acetone (nail polish remover.) ALWAYS follow INSTRUCTIONS and PRECAUTIONS which are written on ANY chemical product: cleaners, paint, pesticides, you name it. I just heard that using two different drain cleaners on one clogged pipe can cause damage! Be careful, be safe everyone.

I've come across stoves in a few investment rental properties we took on. Being a clean freak myself and budget conscious, I would clean the stove rather than purchase new. I used the same method with fantastic, like new results. Putting all loose pieces that can be removed in gallon zip lock bags with 1/4 cup of ammonia in each bag, then put them all in a large heavy duty trash bag. Leave the bag outside overnight or in a well ventilated room. If the stove is gas, I turn off the gas line (and pilot if there is one), then spray the remainder of the stove with ammonia, cut open a trash bag or two and cover the stove and seal with painters tape. If necessary, protect any flooring or other surfaces around the stove. The next morning, the majority of all the grease and grime wipes or washes away with water. Very minimal scrubbing was needed. However, the fumes are very strong! I wear a ventilated mask and chemical resistant gloves while prepping and cleaning. Actually, the smaller parts that I were placed in bags are opened and rinsed with a hose, then brought inside for a thorough wash in sudsy water. One thing to be careful of is any painted/printed areas. These days most of the indicator markings for the knobs and functioning components can easily rub off with aggressive cleaning products.

I used to clean rental units and houses as a RE Management professional. To clean greasy baked on gunk from stove burners and grids, as well as broilers and oven racks, I always used plain non-sudsy ammonia. Place all removable parts into a black hole-less garbage bag add 1/2 cup to 1 cup ammonia to either a dense sponge or pad of rags and then tie the bag shut. Place outside in the hot sunlight and let this sit for several hours or even overnight.The ammonia fumes do most of the work. Meanwhile clean the rest of the stove! After several hours I would use a pressure attachment on a hose and rinse all the gunk away outside on the lawn. Most times the water would clean the stove parts right down to the metal with no scrubbing whatsoever! Good as new without scrubbing. And ammonia is safe for grass--it adds nitrogen to the soil and acts like fertilizer!

Btw have you tried steam as an alternative to ammonia? You don’t have to take any health precautions since it’s just hot water but it works pretty good too because of the temperature and pressure. It also disinfects very effectively because of it’s sheer temperature and pressure, even a tiny unit or boiling liquid water is hot and powerful enough.

I recently attempted to clean a stove top that was thick with grease. I scrubbed forever but much of the stuck on grease was left behind. Next time I will use your technique. What a difference the ammonia soaked paper towels makes. I rarely use ammonia due to the fumes, but in this case it's worth it.

FYI ... That grey piece where the burner is comes out. (trust me, there's grease under there as well). Also, the burner centers also come off. I did this cleaning on a friends stove and it looked new.

Great job. It is easier if you get a small sturdy garbage bag and put all movable parts in it, fill with ammonia, close it up,. put outside and let sit overnight. Rinse with a hose. You can also do the same thing with oven racks, etc.

I recently cleaned a GE gas stove and used AWESOME cleaner. I soaked the burner pans and grates in a bucket of hot water and CASCADE COMPLETE LIQUID. I was able to wipe the burner pans reasonably clean and I scrapped off the soaked burned on goo that resulted on the grates. I rinsed the grates and then put them in a self-cleaning oven (not in the stove I was cleaning) for 4 hours and they came out super clean (so did the oven). What you can't easily remove is the rust that results from the moisture in the long-standing grease. And, also, you need to lift the stove-top up and clean all of the goo that has dripped down inside of the stove. You can remove the burners to make the underside easier to clean. There is a lot to do, but yes, the 18-year-old stove I brought back into service is now clean and since it has a brand new GE microwave above it, it almost looks new even by comparison.

Hey there, I saw the video two weeks ago and was amazed by this, but I didn't find this ammonia cleaner in my country, so I bought a bottle from a chemicals company, same concentration. I applied with paper towels, and was prepared to leave it for hours like you did, but it started to peel off after 3-5 minutes! and in my case, it was 25 years of grease on an old cooker, not 11, so a new record there for ammonia! :) Thanks alot for this, I think I'll keep ammonia in my house for these cases. Also, I couldn't withstand the ammonia, it immediately burnt my eyes and nose, so I took everything outside.

Biological washing powder detergent can be used to clean the stove top. With hot water poured over the top. Set the oven on the lowest setting for about 5 minutes to maintain the heat and it should be easier to get the grease off because the enzymes in the biological detergent break down the grease. I've used this method on multiple occasions.Make sure you turn the oven off before cleaning. Using the powder acts as a minor abrasive. If you can remove the grates and the burners you can fill a sink with boiling water, sprinkle the biological washing powder on the top and leave for about 30 minutes.

Diana may chime in here but I wouldn't. If you have or can find the manufacturer's instructions it can give details. Ammonia can be corrosive on stainless steel. There are many types of stainless and they are respond differently.

When I moved into my little condo home, the stove was really bad. Not as bad as the stove you’re doing. But my stove was bad. And I took all the pans out and the racks and the burners everything that I could take out and I put them outside in a big heavy duty garbage bag and sprayed easy off on them. This was January so it was cold weather, but it was a sunny day, and the bag heated up really fast. So I let it sit three or four hours while I tackled the inside of the stove which was really bad. So I finally got it all cleaned on the inside of the stove and I went outside with a big bucket of soapy water and another bucket of clean water and I rinsed everything off and washed it and the soapy water and rinse it in the clean water and let it dry and then put the garbage bag in the dumpster. About three months later I ended up getting my kitchen redone because IKEA had a special and it included new appliances. But the stove looked a whole lot better when I was done. I wish I would’ve thought about using ammonia with paper towels on the inside of the stove. But on the other hand I have asthma and thatMight have really done me in.

Does this work with open burner stoves? The ammonia might spill into the stove and I hope that doesn’t cause a problem
@marinac9854
@marinac9854 3 жыл бұрын
Well if I remember correctly the stove top just opens up so you can clean down there, maybe use the paper towel method near the eyes of the stove so you don't make too much of a mess and then open the stove top somewhere near the end or at the end of your cleaning session to wash up anything that might have fallen in there throughout the process or overtime beforehand?

If you are able to do a self clean mode on the oven, you could place all the burners, catch trays, and burner covers on one of the oven racks and let it all run in there, one and done, then come back later when its no longer hot and do the ammonia wrap on the bare top, and wipe out the oven ash. It might be a bit quicker in the long run?
