I want to make my own rope halters purely so I can make nice colored rope halters without the unnecessary knots, with thicker, softer rope that won’t be as abrasive and also a thin piece of leather to make them breakaway.

No it’s actually good for your horse it’s a saddle pad but the black strap goes behind your horses butt and Clicks on to the other side of the saddle pad and works out your horses butt

Just to be understood bits are not abusive, but they can be. Please research because for some horses they act better with/ without a bit. ❤
@GypsyEquestrianАй бұрын
Some bits don’t cause pain when sitting in a horses mouth, but most cause pain once the reins are picked up even in the lightest of hands.
@EvolvedEquinePartnershipАй бұрын
@@SSO_GR no horse should have to ever have that kind of bit in its mouth. Doesn’t matter the horse or rider. That bit is unnecessary and abusive no matter what rider or what horse.
@horsey_CecАй бұрын
i agree some bits can be abusive but for horse and rider safety sometimes it is needed at the start. My horse is a very green 9 year old only ever hunted and we are doing alot of hacking ( trail riding) at the moment. I have had a few scenarios where some farm machinery or motor bikes or things like that have spooked him and he has bolted. Don’t get me wrong i have a hanging cheek snaffle its the weakest you can get and the hanging cheek is what he is more comfortable with but if i was bitless i would have ended up on a road potentially in front of a car and would cause an accident.
@TorihorseyspamАй бұрын
@@EvolvedEquinePartnership bits are not bad unless people make them bad. Like I use a slow twisted Deering bit that is not bad at all and it’s one of the lightest bits. There are some bad bits, of course but not all bad.

@makaelabeieler8520Ай бұрын
Whats wrong with rope halters?
@presleyobrien7696Ай бұрын
@makaelabeieler8520 That kind is a training halter so it has 2 knots that sit right on the nose and add a lot of unnecessary pressure on the nose. In a sense they try to fix it by adding more pressure which is NOT how you do it.
@sintara8442Ай бұрын
Rope halters arent bad they are just different. For permanent wear they can be irritating vs a light nylon halter, also you can find nylon ones that break if the horse "hangs itself" on a tree branch or something..
@GypsyEquestrianАй бұрын
Knotted rope halters are designed to put pressure on the delicate facial structures. The knots are specifically made to set on top of very sensitive nerve bundles. Even without any pressure being applied they cause discomfort which is why horses tend to listen a lot better when in a rope halter 😿I used to only use rope halters but I’ve since made the switch to nylons.
@lucindra766Ай бұрын
i use rope halters on my mare because she charges and pulls in front of you when leading, she was never taught to yield to pressure. i’ve tried using a chain but she really didn’t like that and she’d been in a rope halter pretty much her whole life. i’m hoping that someday she’ll calm down a little and i can use a normal halter on her. my trainer has even recommended that i just use a rope halter since that’s what my mare’s used to.
@jessicadonlangren7891Ай бұрын
I believe they’re only for people that enjoyed like learning nautical knots or did scouts, where had to learn a bunch of knots. When I move 20 horses in an evening don’t have time for that… buckles are quicker for me.
